I can't find the old thread, and maybe we should have a new thread as we get really close, starting a week from tomorrow. Here's a start. Or Chappy, if you want to merge this with the old one, good too. http://instagram.com/p/CRXTpYis0yS

From Holly's mouth to the Victory Podium's ears. Just hoping they all stay healthy and eligible.

LOL Utterly ineffective and a bit insulting to both the athletes and to the world at large. This seems like they're trying to convince themselves (or the populous) that they're upholding the official prudish culture. 1. The weight of two people is fine, just not three. Um ... that leaves most er congress still on the table, right? ... and makes me wonder about the variety of sizes of individuals at the Olympics and counting "two" of whom? ... and raises the question - Can't COVID be passed with only two in the bed at a time? Even if serially? 2. If articles like this are written, then won't most athletes who want to dance with multiple partners at once be smart enough to put the mattresses onto the floor? 3. They've tested the beds to break by dropping weights. Snork! Most of these athletes are much more ... energetic ... than any weight you might drop. Some of them may be able to break the cardboard ... ahem ... all by themselves, No??? I'd best stop here, before I stumble into a fit of laughter and lose all editorial control over myself.

I share your sense of the absurd. I immediately thought that this wouldn't deter pole vaulters.....

Sue is one of the US flagbearers! Opening Ceremony flag bearer, no less! Way to go, Birdie! Edit: I was not aware that they have changed it to now have one male and one female flag bearer represent each country. Now I do!

The teenager in me can't resist rejoining that it's okay to break the condom record, so long as the condoms don't break.

New COVID-19 cases in Tokyo reached a six-month high the day before the delayed Olympic Games kick off in the nation’s capital.
The Tokyo government recorded 1,979 cases, marking the highest total since Jan. 15 when the count reached 2,044, The Associated Press (AP) reported. New cases surpassed last Thursday’s total by 671.
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga declared a state of emergency earlier in July, which will last throughout the games. And domestic spectators have been barred from attending events in-person.thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/564329-tokyos-covid-19-cases-reach-six-month-high-oneDD said a couple of weeks ago that they needed to postpone until next year. With no one in the audience and all players' heath compromised (as Delta is causing so many breakthroughs even for the vaxxed), the only reason to hold these games is because television says so. And yet, I am so psyched! (Am I a bad person, or just a spoiled one?)
