USA beats China. I thought it was over when Yi Zhang went out with an injury when the score was 2 – 1. She taped up and try to come back but was unable to. USA pull out to an 8 – 3 lead and I thought they close to a victory but China didn't give up despite only having three players and cut it to a single point at 11 – 10.
However they expended all their energy in the come back and were out of gas, and then the USA coasted to victory 20-11.
Brink looked impressive, Van Lith played well.

Yep, China was definitely tired. They couldn't grab any rebounds and were fouling at the end of the game.
Brink's offensive game was on full display here. Lots of drives and spin moves; even a little hook in the lane.
A trend that has started to happen is we are pushing teams out behind the arc and they are having to rely on 2 point shots. Austria was hot from there for a while. And China hit a couple here. But that kind of offense is too one dimensional imo. I think this is a hidden effect of having Cameron Brink in the interior. She really has been a factor defensively all tournament. She has some issues once in a while. Her handle maybe is not great. When she gets the ball and has to reset it behind the arc.. she turns the ball over sometimes. And she gets a decent number of fouls every game. But she is also the least experienced 3x3 player on the team. I think she has done well.
We are going to the final. And we certainly were not projected to do so. So, it is a big accomplishment imo.

Feel bad for China, they played in the third-place bronze medal game with only three players, and came up as close as you possibly can, losing 21 – 20

Players like Haley Jones are a dime a dozen in the WNBA. The fault for her not developing as a shooter and that she won't be a factor in the league lies with Jones not Stanford. She had plenty of time in 3-4 years to hook up with a quality shooting instructor during offseasons but didn't bother. There are players who develop their shooting after they go pro like Gabby Williams because their job depends on it but if Jones' priority is to continue to work on her hairstyle at the expense of her job, she'll be finding another job fairly soon. Harsh ... Harsh reality. Got an update on the "harsh reality" of Haley here. She better put in another call to Packie Turner soon. Check out these shooting stats and they don't include tonight's 6 minutes, 0-2 effort against Conn. Take out any layups made and it's really rough. She's currently battling with Asia Durr for the #5 guard position with the Dream. Not good for job security. www.basketball-reference.com/wnba/players/j/jonesha01w.html

It’s what we expected. Haley is not going to suddenly shoot better against better competition.
