Of course! Justin's Guy is, well, my guy! We've been together on two boards now. JG speaks his mind, and it's often just plain wrong, and we enjoy telling him that. Okay...I have seen it a few times now. I think JG would appreciate it if we called him correctly Justin esguy. Not sure who Justin is. Maybe Justine's twin brother? Fixed. Thanks, Chappy!

Yeah, but just to be clear, it's OK for Justin's Guy to express an opinion. Of course! Justin esguy is, well, my guy! We've been together on two boards now. JG speaks his mind, and it's often just plain wrong, and we enjoy telling him that. So quickly you forget who won the guess the score contest against Baylor, who correctly predicted that Danger would start, and most importantly who would eat 3 cadbury eggs during the championship game a few years back!!!

Yes and also to knock the Planet TOB out of it's orbit into NANospace .................... Do you think NAN trolls this board? I'm certain she's much too busy NAN-handling all of the interstellar trolls with their copiously padded resumes from elite learning institutions like Tennessee? The TOB Guillitine runs 24/7 with very little time off for blade sharpening I'm told! There's even a rumor that NAH is somehow related to Marie-Antoinette........................let them eat cake; except NAH means Crab Cakes!

I loved the revolution and the new portal when it first hit the fan. Now I'm taking a wait and see. Those who defend it say it balances out the inequities. Now the men can leap to the NBA and the women can leap to the portal, both with impunity. Dunno. We need a bit longer to ponder this change. A couple of days ago a WNBA star was being interviewed about 1 and done for the women. She said it should come, but it would had to happen in the context of other changes in the WNBA, mentioning expansion so there would be room for the newcomers and the veterans. She was implying, too, that the portal relieved the pressure to want to jump to the pros. I don't see that at all. We are talking money here, not college playing time.

She was implying, too, that the portal relieved the pressure to want to jump to the pros. I don't see that at all. We are talking money here, not college playing time. The big issue is now before the US Supreme Court, where the NCAA is trying to overturn the California decision requiring universities to split proceeds from T-shirts and the like with their athletes. Based on the questions the justices asked, court observers think the NCAA completely miscalculated in believing that a conservative Supreme Court would side with them. What this means is that Paige (for example) might be able to make an estimated $500,000/year just by monetizing her twitter account with her current followers. If that happens, there's incentive to remain in school, since Paige probably has as great a platform for her popularity at UConn as if she were playing pro ball. And, college is frankly a much more comfortable environment for many players.

To answer the original question, yes. More than 1.

To answer the original question, yes. More than 1. You sound certain. I don't mean "certain because it's logical to suppose," but "certain because you have definite inside information." Do you?

I would not be surprised with other transfers. These kids are competitors. They want to play. And with what we have coming back and new coming in, there are only so many minutes to go around. Highly rated players don't want to sit on the bench.
If there are other transfers, I will be sad, but will certainly understand and support their decision. Once a Husky, always a Husky.
I do think with the NCAA's decision allowing immediate eligibility not having to sit out a year makes the transfer decision a little bit easier for kids who may be on the fence.

As far as I can tell, there's no closing date of the transfer portal. There are deadline requirements for different sports, if you want to play in that sports upcoming season. The school has 2 days to submit a players name into the portal once that player has made the request. As a follow-up, I found this on Twitter. It appears that if you want to transfer for the 2021-22 NCAA season, the July 1 deadline will be decided by next week's meeting.

Yes and also to knock the Planet TOB out of it's orbit into NANospace .................... Do you think NAN trolls this board? Too busy yelling at people for making comments on players' appearances and use of bad words like thugs or banning them for...pretty much anything.

Should there be a cut off for transferring that is any different from that of a non-athlete? Can't the first violinist transfer later than July 1?

If the cut off is after July, how can a team jell with summer pick-up (practices) and then start solid work in the fall. When do they start getting their financial support? I think it is in the summer. So you take a couple months of support and then bail? Don't you have to pay it back? Complicated, unless it's set up properly.

Whether the team jells or not is a decision the coach makes who takes a player later. 2. Students get academic or need-based scholarships all the time who leave school in the middle of the semester, etc. Financial Aid is a huge and sloppy cash machine at most big time schools. D-1 athletes in revenue producing sports, because of the time demands of practice and travel, are largely separate from the rest of the population. But I don't think they should be treated differently. To break the hold of the NCAA, we need to treat all students the same. Sports should follow academics and educational practice, not lead them.

It isn't that I disagree, just that I expect the NCAA to lose control and fall apart before they come to such an epiphany. Started to post this one: ...But this one seemed similarly appropriate:

Any chance Collier, Boston or Cardoso hit the portal? Serious about Cardoso... Collier's going pro. No chance at all that Boston moves: do you sense she's unhappy? She looks completely sold on Dawn to me. I'm sure there'd be lots of interest in Cardoso all over the country, but why would she wait to hit the portal when most of her teammates already did.
