My guess is no, though I would understand 2 players hitting the portal and Autumn isn't one of them.

The thing that may keep them at UConn is having an extra year of eligibility. Sophomores with 2 years left might decide to try another program for minutes but this year's sophomores have 3 years left if they want.
Hell, even the juniors have 2 years left if they want go. But it's rare for any starter to transfer, never mind a UConn starter. Geno has always been loyal to his seniors but the UConn boards should be buzzing as to who "should" play and who should sit next year.

I don't see it. Is there any place from UConn but down?
Most of the transfers I remember (not an exhaustive list) from UConn were dissatisfied with reason (good or bad doesn't matter, from the outside), and I don't see why anyone on your team this year should be.

When does the portal close? if it does, in fact, close?
How long does Evina still have to declare she's going pro?

Is it the same for the portal, or does that remain open basically all summer? thanks!

Thanks, Ken. That makes sense.
And how about the transfer portal? Does that ever close? Can players decide they want to transfer over the summer? I'm thinking there is no close to the transfer portal, right?

As far as I can tell, there's no closing date of the transfer portal. There are deadline requirements for different sports, if you want to play in that sports upcoming season. The school has 2 days to submit a players name into the portal once that player has made the request.

I'm thinking there is no close to the transfer portal, right? Here's some good information from the NCAA about the Transfer Portal: www.ncaa.org/static/champion/what-the-ncaa-transfer-portal-is/

The transfer portal is ESSENTIAL for NCAA women's game.
There is a double standard: men can play pro at 19, women at 21. If the NCAA denies easy transfer, I think women will sue for equal access to the WNBA, and fans will not like that. It might be more equitable (Paige and Caitlin are certainly ready now), but we hope the portal is a middle ground.

I have someone in mind who might transfer, but I wouldn't be surprised if everyone stayed.
The problem is that 3½ great freshmen are coming in. If players value minutes as much as everything else about playing for UConn, they might reconsider their commitment.

The best thing for this Program is if Geno tells Ono to enter the transfer portal, or start to make a living overseas until she can attempt to earn a living in the WNBA. I know this is going to be an unpopular post and Im sure I will get my fair share of Ire but to be as ineffective as she has been against the tougher teams at 6 foot 4, as a junior is really mind blowing. In the beginning of the year ONO was taking long jump shots just inside the 3pt line, I didnt think it could get worse than that until she started missing every single layup she took. Starting next season we need Edwards starting and Deberry backing her up.

I am also disappointed at ONO's lack of development but I'm happier with her around next season than with the front court you suggested. DeBerry looks like a ONO clone. Hopefully she's tougher. Mentally, ONO and Williams to a lesser degree seem to be overly concerned with avoiding mistakes. Take it from a 40 year golfer, trying to not make mistakes is not the path to success. The talent next year will again be focussed in the guards/wings. Having 3 or 4 posts (Gabriel) to rotate will be a novelty.

I'm a huge Liv fan, but tonight I watched Brink and kept thinking that if Liv had played as well, we'd have been there tonight--not only in the game but cutting down the net. However, Liv at times has been really, really good. And what would we gain by losing her? If Geno doesn't want her to play big minutes next year, she won't. But at the very least, UConn owes her an education. And more than that, UConn owes her a chance to be a better player in clutch situations.

Evina is coming back. Said on Instagram “unfinished business”. I'm so surprised. It goes against every advantage: 1. she's got an excellent chance to be a first rounder; and 2. her knee, her knee, her knee. I think she's an amazing person (despite what some say on the Tenn board ), but UConn is loaded with shooters and big guards next year, and I can't imagine she'll get as many minutes. Maybe Evina has a different consideration: maybe she wants to learn as much as she can about coaching....She is going to be a leader in basketball in the next generation. http://instagr.am/p/CNQ6Go8Hjvx

I'm reminded of Morgan Tuck and how short her pro career was because of knee injuries.

Rather, get your education and experience because, no matter when you get to the pros, it's not going to be your life. I like it!!!!
