I didn’t see a thread for this.
Notre Dame goes down to Oregon State 70-65.
Hidalgo does what most freshman do. 10 points on 4-17 from the field and 0-3 on threes.
Bye bye Irish!!

Don't see anyone beating this South Carolina team. They are built very much like our men's team: too many weapons to defend.

Hoping "most freshmen" won't include our guys!

Close but no cigar. Still, it shows South Carolina is not invincible.
Thrilled Notre Dame lost. Now if LSU can lose I will be even happier.
DD, thanks for starting the thread. I am in the a mental funk and just forgot.

Hoping "most freshmen" won't include our guys! The difference is that Hidalgo was the centerpiece of NDame, despite Westbeld and Citron. UConn's first year players are all in support roles. At least that's what I tell myself.

Oh, I would be dancing in the aisles if we win and LSU loses. Double joy. Of course what really matters is if we win, but I have grown to dislike LSU more than the Vols and even the Irish.

Maybe the same as NDame but not at Tenn's level. I'm being entirely mercenary but I will be rooting for Iowa & LSU to win. I've got 2 nice seats listed for resale and that E8 would have people flying in to Albany who are used to paying 4 digit prices and LSU-Iowa would be must see. If Iowa loses I'll be lucky to get my cost back. But tomorrows Iowa game paid the entire cost of my all-sessions tickets.

What a turnaround for N.C. St. Now up by 15 over Stanford. 4 minutes left. Brink fouled out!

I think Stanford will come back. Iriafen is about to emerge as a superstar.

Glad to be wrong about that one! (Although Iriafen will be a superstar)

Stanford has gone down again due to a lack of guards. Congrats to James for a special game and for exposing Stanford's achilles heel.

Over in Muffet land, they're convinced that the nose ring episode rattled Hidalgo. Some blame Ivey for letting her wear it in the first place, but others believe the OSU coach ratted her out.

They could be right as it had to be surgically removed, bled a lot, and was apparently very painful. So the OSU coach complained? That's really interesting.

Rules are rules. Surprised it took this long to enforce it. My guess is that the NCAA doesn't want to look for violations so they wait for a complaint and then enforce the rule. The NDame staff is to blame for it. No question.

I had my ears pierced and quickly gave it up. My ears were always in pain. My body simply rejected foreign things in my ears. But even if I could wear earrings, I don’t think I could do nose, tongue, lip, or other body part piercings. Then again, I only wear my wedding ring (not engagement ring), a simple cross necklace and my Apple Watch. That is it for jewelry for me. Makes my husband happy.

Unfortunately the upsets in the other bracket probably ease South Carolina's path to the finals and in that sense the upsets make UConn's path even more arduous. I think we would have been a small underdog, at worst, if we were to get to the finals against anyone else in the Albany bracket. But we'll be a 10-pt underdog against the Gamecocks, barring a serious injury to one or more of their top players.
That said, all we can do is play the next opponent, beat them, and then rinse and repeat a couple of times.
It has been a great day of basketball, regardless, and the Texas-Gonzaga game features teams with extremely different styles, Hopefully it will be close, too.

All of the blame goes to the ND coaching staff for letting her wear it all year. She reportedly said that she intends to wear it again next year. Hopefully, if she wears it next year she will get ejected from the 1st game for deliberately defying the rule.
As an aside I don't understand nose rings or a lot of other piercings. I grew up on a farm and our bulls had nose rings for control. Mostly I remember that they were always coated with snot.

Wow. NC State players classless in waving Brink goodbye after she fouls out. I don't like Brink or at least how Stanford promotes her as the "glam girl" on Instagram and billboards. But I really admire her game. No one has worked harder over 4 college years than she. This was just classless.
