Yes, it's called "your gut". My gut says she won't. And when I weigh the reasons that I can see (which is a grain of sand in the ocean of what she will see and consider), I'm still inclined to think she won't come here. Of course, I hope I'm wrong. BOOOOO!!!!

Are you booing because I don't think she's coming or are you booing because I'm hoping I'm wrong? Yeah yeah, the center from Colorado entered the Portal soon after Beers did. And Beers is from Colorado. So, 1 + 1 = she will go to Colorado. However, there are so many other grains of sand to consider. And this tend to favor UConn. 1. Almost every UConn player immediately followed her on social media after her announcement. 2. Not one but two UConn coaches also followed her. 3. Where does she have the best chance for an NC? UConn of course. 4. What coaching staff will best prepare her for the next level? 5. Which team affords her the opportunity to play with the best player in WCBB next season. So unless Colorado has some magical home pull for her, my gut says UConn.

So unless Colorado has some magical home pull for her, my gut says UConn. I now agree with you that Colorado is not necessarily her eventual home. My impulse was that the 2 events were connected. But since she didn't commit to Colorado immediately, I doubt Vonleh was feeling the need to get out of town because of the pressure. Okay, I'll tell you why I'm a bit skeptical (and hope I'm wrong). Basketball centers, baseball catchers, and football offensive left tackles are the badasses of their teams. They do the grunt work that makes everyone around them better. Stewie may have won the MVP of the game, but the look on Stef's face told ND that she was just not going to let the Irish beat them again. Reagan is used to being the badass. I believe she'll want everything flowing through her--and she should. But Ice is already there and rounding into shape. Folks may say that the two of them can split time. But badasses don't split time. Left tackles take a play off, and catchers get every 4th game off. But it's their team. They want to be in there every minute they can. I said at the very beginning of this discussion that Geno will have to figure out how to accommodate Reagan while still honoring Ice. I'm doubtful that's possible. Again, I hope I'm wrong. Is Reagan willing to sacrifice a bit of time and leadership in order to increase her chances at a championship? I don't know that she cares about a championship and neither do you. Does she think she needs to go to UConn to have a better pro career? I don't know that she feels she needs added coaching to get that and neither do you. Does she want to play with Paige? I don't know that and neither do you. We don't know anything except UConn has been, from the moment of her own announcement, quite public in its interest in her, and yet she's been completely silent as to her own preference.

Sigh……and all this time I thought you were talking about the home pull for her. Of course she will be better prepared for a pro career if she comes to UConn. History tells us that. Just ask the coaches and GM’s in the WNBA. UConn has only 2 real “bigs” in Ice and Janna. Add in Patterson. That’s three players to man the 4/5. Plenty of minutes for Beers. It will vary from game to game but there is no reason she can’t get 20+. You seem to think she is a selfish player and only cares about getting “hers”. Has she said that? Nope. Funny how you say “does she want to play with Paige?” No I don’t know for sure. As you don’t know for sure everything else you have said. But I’d bet she would love to play with her. An unselfish superstar that makes everyone else better? Who wouldn’t? I’m not buying what you are selling.

I hope you're right, DD. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to eat crow on this.
I have no knowledge at all, just the sense that UConn is laying out the red carpet and so far she hasn't decided (or at least hasn't announced) that she is willing to walk down it.
Nothing else is there. Players decide where they want to go for all sorts of reasons that we can't predict. Grace VanSlooten at Michigan State...really? Didn't she want to be on a team that might compete for a championship? Didn't she want to play with All-Americans? Didn't she want the best possible coaching for a pro career?
Where we differ is that you seem to think that there's an arithmetic solution in sharing minutes, while I think there's the need for a psychological solution (who's the badass). Geno is a master psychologist and might pull that rabbit out of his hat. If he does, I'm happy to dive into that hat and search for the crow I'll be eating.

What team that can compete for an NC offered her? You’re not making sense here. Certainly UConn wasn’t interested. The players and coaches don’t follow other players for no reason. That they did are the only facts out there. You’re beginning to sound like you just want to be negative.

Nothing gained by debating a decision that will come soon enough. This isn't to do that, but just information that we didn't have before. This is from Raegan just before her second year at OSU. We can make of it what we will. It's a very long and good article, and, perhaps importantly for UConn, Raegan stresses the importance of community among teammates. Not so great is the emphasis on the conference, but maybe she doesn't feel that way now. “I really liked Baylor with Kim Mulkey,” she says. “I liked Texas and Oklahoma. But in the end, the culture at Oregon State drew me here. And I wanted to go Pac-12, because it’s a great conference.”www.kerryeggers.com/stories/beers-glass-is-overflowing-with-good-stuff

I doubt she anticipated the Pac-12's implosion. I'm not debating this with you. I'm only trying to give us information about her, from which we can choose or choose not to draw inference. None of it matters, as there will soon be a definitive decision. I'm content to be hopeful but not fully optimistic. UConn has a great team with or without her.

The game is evolving. It is getting more street-ball-ish. This team needs more badasses. I don't see Ice as competition in this case. First of all, she didn't exactly blow our socks off last year. We might see her make a big sophomore jump but all we know right now is what we saw last year. Geno seemed forced to play her versus wanting to play her and she looked more like a 4 than a 5. Jana is still an unknown until we see her play at this level. Ayanna is more of a 4 than a 5. All three have had season ending injuries while at UConn. Beers is desperately needed and would be the alpha at the 5 for 2 years. Jana's minutes will be dictated by how ready she is. We need a proven and durable badass at the 5. Let's get it done!!!
