I always thought there should be beers at Gampel. Now that they've improved the bathrooms....

Oklahoma? Like the musical? Come on. Really? Smells like looking for NIL money, but that's just me.

Oklahoma? Like the musical? Come on. Really? Smells like looking for NIL money, but that's just me. Oklahoma was one of her final schools in her original decision. Being Debby Downer again, but she's never expressed any interest in playing east of the Mississippi. “I really liked Baylor with Kim Mulkey,” she says. “I liked Texas and Oklahoma. But in the end, the culture at Oregon State drew me here. And I wanted to go Pac-12, because it’s a great conference.” www.kerryeggers.com/stories/beers-glass-is-overflowing-with-good-stuff

You posted that quote and link in another thread. UConn is unique and did she ever say she wouldn’t go west of the Mississippi? Come on man, don’t let your bed sores make you crazy.

That was my original call, but I'm not necessarily sticking to it, though I think the odds are she stays out west somewhere. Colorado will be in the "Biggish 12" and that may be enough for her, as she earlier explained that she went to OSU because she liked the competition in the Pac 12. Oklahoma is going to the SEC, where she would get the most competition as well as better TV coverage. A large part of me had hoped we could just snag Caitlin Weimar to be part of the rotation, but clearly her market value has soared beyond playing back-up, even at UConn. Still, not counting UConn out with Beers. All seemed lost with Sarah Strong, to the point where both South Carolina and LSU were almost set with press releases. Geno was essentially mute about UConn's chances, and yet all along that's what Sarah wanted.

Weimar would likely start at UConn. Not sure that's so. She's untested against top competition and she hasn't played the 5 in that kind of offense. Still....

This little sliver of news means that Raegan's former coach is joining the Oklahoma team. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

So maybe it's to UConn's advantage for Beers. Plus, if she is good enough then there is no better national stage than UConn. I'm hoping for a badass enforcer.

An interesting mental exercise might be the following: With what little we know about where Raegan wants to play and with what little we know about Weimar's playing ability against quality opponents, would, right now, you continue to hope for Raegan if it meant not getting Weimar? Or, if Weimar would be willing to come and play any role Geno gives her, would you take Weimar if it meant giving up on Raegan? It's a contrary to fact exercise since there is no known mutual interest between Weimar and UConn. But it's the kind of thing that in reality some coaches have to struggle with. It also helps us (or at least me) focus more on the resources already at UConn. As chicagogg said on another thread: she's happy with what we already have.

First thing I think of when anyone considers an SEC school (IN OU's case, soon will be) is show me the money. Probably wrong, but not impossible.

First thing I think of when anyone considers an SEC school (IN OU's case, soon will be) is show me the money. Probably wrong, but not impossible. Several anonymous surveys of WCBB coaches have indicated that more than a majority of them believe that players go where the NIL is, or at least that there is an active bidding war for many of them. We know this publicly when Nick Saban exploded at Jimbo Fisher. And, frankly, Oklahoma as an institution, even before NIL, has long been rumored to violate NCAA laws of compensation. The boosters there are incredibly active. So, sure, somewhere in Raegan's calculus is the weighing of financial packages. That is what an overwhelming number of non-athletes do: ask where are they getting the most financial aid? This is just on a vastly greater scale.

Raegan is now following Ayanna Patterson. Maybe Ayanna will follow her to Oklahoma? I was waiting for someone to go there. I would think that anyone planning to enter the portal would have done so by now. The longer a player waits, the more likely a desireable landing spot will not be available. Anything is possible until the door closes on the portal entry when the deadline is reached.

I hope Amari is happy in MD, and gets what she wants. Weird that Saylor is headed there now, too.
