Did the men's team lack cohesion? I don't think taking a transfer or two each year is going to kill our cohesion and especially given the injury history. The men sure looked like a family. It should be easy to sell the story to current players that we need extra depth since we have had a string of three seasons with multiple injuries. And, if the players you are bringing in will only be there for a year or two, you are really only "recruiting over" upperclassmen at the same position. And, if you are doing that, there is a reason. I don't know. We all witnessed how the addition of Juhasz and Lopez-Senechal nearly destroyed the team's cohesion last year.

Yeah, Lou and Dorka just absolutely dismantled the team. Seriously, though, Who knew we would be so unbelievably lucky to have them as Huskies

Those portals could not have worked out any better than they did. They saved us in so many ways. It's a tribute not only to them, but to the incredible work Geno and CD do to be sure the person fits the program.

Just read that Hailey Van Lith committed to TCU. Not only that, the Cavender twin at TCU just portalled back to Miami, as the other twin decided she didn't retire from basketball after all. So it's back to being Gators for both of them. Who knows, maybe the NIL money is falling off for them? IIRC, they toyed with the notion of professional wrestling, but don't think they ever actually did that. (Sorry, not good at remembering which twin is where...)

She brought a terrible Cal team into relevance. Then went to the NBA, before making USC a top team. She outcoached Tara in the USC Stanford game I saw. Could say same about UCLA, but topping Cori isn't saying a lot ... to be fair, Close has improved from terrible to ... "not elite" at player development and x and o work. She has always been an excellent recruiter

Seems like Beers is taking a long time, probably doesn’t bode well? Negative thoughts? Knock yourself out. Her taking her time means only one thing. She is taking her time. I bet you said the same thing with how long Sarah Strong took.

Seems like Beers is taking a long time, probably doesn’t bode well? I have my own reasons for doubting this (sorry, DD ), but length of time isn't one of them. Quite the contrary. A lot of the very best portallers haven't committed yet. They want to get it right: now that they're established stars, they want to know exactly what their role will be on the team: how they mesh with the offense; how much time they are likely to get on the court (no coach will promise; but they'll want an idea of where they are in the rotation and whom they're playing with); how many NIL opportunities are available; what the room and board looks like; the training room and training instruction; what the media coverage looks like and support for nominations for national honors; what courses they're likely to take and what the academic support; what the summer program looks like, the travel conditions (how they fly; where they stay). These are all questions they asked when recruited in high school. And now as seasoned players, they have even more questions, because they know what to ask. When Reagan announced she was portaling, she referenced a large group of people from whom she sought advice. That group will get a lot bigger now, as she'll be talking also to players and alumnae players from the teams she's considering.

This is a good player who had a solid freshman year and will only get better. She left a program with a talented coach who's proving her worth for a program with an untested coach. There are certainly reasons for any student to transfer that are more personal. Most often, students who can get past their freshman year find that they are actually happy where they are. The sad thing about the portal is that it gives student-athletes incentive (being publicly appreciated all over again) to portal when they may well be happier if they stuck it out.
Remember how miserable D was in her freshman year and how she then grew to be absolutely an iconic Husky and completely identified with the program? True blue forever. But what might have happened if the portal existed then?

I have my own reasons for doubting this (sorry, DD ), Yes, it's called "your gut". My gut says she won't. And when I weigh the reasons that I can see (which is a grain of sand in the ocean of what she will see and consider), I'm still inclined to think she won't come here. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.
