NCST needs offensive options besides Cunane - who is buried by the SCar bigs

Emphasis on outside shooting for the gamecocks. This is not just that their guards are hogs. Good ball movement to get open looks from the perimeter, and the defense trying to collapse on the bigs. If they can do that successfully, that will be great for them. Started late (and will have to leave soon), but haven't seen a shot from Boston or Cardoso yet.

Looks like both are strong defenses, but neither looks great at the other end yet.

Halftime. SCar ahead, but the game is there for anyone who can generate offense in the second half. Both teams ... but more NCState ... are way too much 1:1. No assist records will be set here tonight.

I'll hope to catch the rest of the game later ... thank you ESPN!

Nothing to write home about for either team . NC ST plays terrible perimeter defense . SC looks quicker and better conditioned . My take on first half.

South Carolina looks to be very beatable with 12 turnovers in the first half? Really surprised as they were supposed to have the best back court in the entire world!! They are long and athletic, and that is frustrating the NC offense; but quick ball movement leads to open shots! NC needs to regroup!!

I was amazed when I turned it on an hour after it started and the score was 25-22. I thought I had the start time wrong. But no, it was into the third quarter.
When SC was up and coming, I used to think that watching them play us was like watching paint dry. Looks like they play everyone slowly.

Second verse, same as the first. The Territory posted it twice, and I can’t delete the second one.

I couldn't catch much, as I was watching a zoom book launch by a friend.
But what I saw reminds me of the Soviet army strategy: did in and fight a war of attrition. Especially with the addition of Dorke, the contrast in styles with UConn couldn't be greater.

UConn is doomed! South Carolina's imposing front line is too much to handle.
Boston - 3-8 from the field, 8 points 6 rebounds. She did have 5 blocks, all against the 5'5" NCST guards. Saxton - 1-2 from the field, 2 points, 1 reobond. Amihere - 4-6 from the field, 9 points, 5 rebounds.
And that monster 6'7" transfer from Syracuse?
1-1 from the field, 2 points and 4 rebounds.
I was impressed with their guard play. They scored 45 of their 66 points.

And that No. 1 freshman class?
Rivers - DNP Feigan - DNP Hall - 4 minutes, 0 points, 1 rebound, 1 turnover Johnson - 8 minutes, 0 points, 1 turnover

But in all fairness, it was a first game...and against a nationally ranked team and playing away from home. I couldn't catch much, but wow, Amihere looks like she's regained form. What a weapon to match with either Boston or Cardoso.

Watched bits and pieces of 2nd half. Improvement over the first , but not a fun game to watch . Switched over to uconn men's game. I like Holly , but her comment, that Boston should be NPOY just made my head spin. Sorry, but Paige has way more game in her toolbox than Boston. Except for SNY, I might have to watch w/sound off for ESPN games.

Seemed like neither big got a lot of minutes, and only a little taste of them both on the floor together.

Dawn gets great talent, but they play such an unimaginative offense. Speed kills, and UConn has plenty of that.

Pretty low scoring...and hardly a rout.

3 yards and a cloud of dust basketball, ugh. ESPN's announcers are going to give the benefit of the doubt to leagues and players they cover at every opportunity, especially the SEC. Saying something like that about Boston, considering Paige won every major award for POY, just diminishes their credibility. Paige, Caitlin, Haley Jones, the rest. If your going to say something that stirs the pot say something plausible.
