I realize the timing of this is too late, but I proposed years ago that the football teams should walk in a corner and decide on a sensible alignment or football conferences and divorce that from everything else. It is ludicrous that fencing and gymnastics and baseball and softball and tennis etc. etc. etc. all have to end up with a conference makeup that reflects what football wants.

I get this "information" only through a glass darkly, and someone may well know better than I. But my understanding is that at least a couple of Ivy League schools would love to get rid of football. But football actually defines the Ivy League. Astonishingly, it's a football conference! And if a school would drop football, they would no longer be considered an Ivy League school, and loose a great deal of their "brand." I bring up this pathetic counterexample to the P5 just to show how ridiculously determinative football is in the scheme of college athletics.

True ...but that's the only way to get a piece of the football money to those other sports

Imagine in a few years, SEC Monday night football, Thursday night SEC football, Saturday afternoon SEC football and Saturday evening SEC football. Then imagine conference playoffs, with at least 4 games. ESPN televising them all on one of their networks.

The SEC has a deal with ESPN, but no network of their own. I see no path to Texas giving up their network. There's too much money in it for that to happen. No idea what the commitments are between ESPN and the SEC, but I did read somewhere that the SEC (or some subset thereof) was dissatisfied with being "another ESPN channel" instead of having their own... and reaping that lucre. In any case, hearing that the longhorns agreed to leave the Big12, and the SEC immediately and unanimously agreed to take them would indicate that this has been discussed at some length.

How did Texas manage that? They also have the Longhorn Network - which is largely (so far as I know) an ESPN deal similar to the SEC (and ACC) networks. The Big Ten Network is really just a deal with Fox. We will not be discussing the disgrace that is the PAC network. Serious question, I have no idea.

The Longhorn network has been the de facto conference tv standard for the big 12.

Well; he's the quintessence of the pot calling the kettle black, but our meretricious, dollar-driven leaders show about as much leadership as a liter of coke!! Oh; I'm glad you asked, it's Coke Zero because it contains no conscience or logic!! But don't get me started on my ludicrous tale of how our modern 2 party duopoly is a poor copy of WWE with suits, ties, infinite hubris and wildly scripted results guaranteed to annoy the yawning citizenry!! BTW......isn't there, in theory, supposed to be a mighty agency policing this?? The NCAA I thought, but I suppose we're all up $chitt$$ Creek if we depend on them??

Both should be investigated for sure. I wanna know who's gonna investigate the investigators and I'm hoping it's Cyber Ninjas along with the friendly space aliens who once kidnapped me for what seemed to be decades of time travel??? Italian satellites, Chinese bamboo paper and Rudy Giuliani ......... Can Sidney Powell and Vince McMahon be far behind.................... This is slightly off-topic, but have any of you had problems with keys, coins and other metallic objects sticking to your foreheads? It's killing me as I'm walking around with about 30 lbs of assorted junk on my forehead!! Gives a whole new meaning to heavy metal: Don't laugh..............she's a real doctor??

Make is bi-partisan and removed from the FBI, CIA and NSA. Better to do something than nothing. If we don't, there will always be doubts.
