Another thing from those Dorka highlights... That shooting motion, twisting and kicking legs out in front of her... I watch a lot of lower level D1 ball, and I have seen other players that seem to use a motion like that intending to draw contact, usually followed by ridiculous flops and 3 foul shots. (We're talking at the Metro Atlantic and Northeast conference levels...if you think the officiating in the NCAA tourney is bad, you should see what is going on down here, it can be hard to explain)

Before the last 24 hours the only thing I knew about Dorka was from when we played them at the beginning of last season, "OMG they have a player named Dorka." Watching the highlight vids I see that she will at least get some respect from outside. One of the most amazing things I saw this season was the South Carolina game, when ONO had the ball outside the SC defense would literally just put their arms down and stop playing, begging her to shoot, knowing she wouldn't drive the lane. See e.g. 1:35 in this video (one of her 3 made baskets in that game) Dorka was a far better 3 shooter in 2019 than in 2020. And over her 3 years, she's an atrocious foul shooter. Let's hope she regains 2019 form from outside and becomes good at the line.

Oh yeah! Blonde and can shoot the three! You had to go there, didn't you??? I know you are a fan of BBall, JG, but sometimes you can be a little bit...too concerned with physical appearance, shall we say? It’s my schtick. Please don’t take offense. Just in gest.

Justinesguy: Imagine what Nan would say about this conversation haha.. Listen I wish her the best 2 year experience and two national championships. Of course I remember you from TOB - it's hard to forget a name like "justinesguy." And yeah, I was "Nanned" too. I can't even remember what name I had there and don't care. I laugh at all of it now. I’m glad your here. It’s such a better place. This is certainly a more tolerant and fun board. Good posters here.

That's an incredibly revealing interview, especially at the end: “I think Aaliyah made incredible progress from day one,” Auriemma said. “She’s really physical, she plays hard every possession, she competes for everything, she did a great job finishing around the basket, she offensive rebounded, which was crucial for us, and she defended. I could see her next year getting the bulk of the touches among all of the post players. I have incredibly high expectations for Aaliyah, and for where she's going in the future. And Liv is going to be a senior. If Liv stays the same, then it’s obviously going to be a difficult senior year for Liv. If Liv adds some things to her game and makes the adjustments she needs to make, she's going to be a big factor and we're going to be fine.” Auriemma toyed with the idea of extending the Huskies’ style of play during the season, going more full court, but decided against it. Westbrook, who announced after the Final Four that she will return for her final season of eligibility, wasn’t 100 percent for much of the season after missing the summer while recovering from knee surgery. Also, Anna Makurat, the sophomore guard who has announced plans to transfer, missed 13 games with a stress fracture in her leg. “ Next year,” Auriemma said. “I won't have that problem. I hope. We're going to have an opportunity to play differently.”This is why I think it odd that so many talk Dorka as giving Liv a breather, when it could work out that way, but at least as likely that Liv will be giving the breather to Dorka.

The prospects for this to become a full-court press and run team are staggering. Plenty of players with the speed and endurance to cover a lot of floor. Lots of fouls to give without worrying. cannot be trapped in return. Several players fit better in that style - especially Aubrey and Mir, but also Christyn and Aaliyah and Liv and Amari. They could have done it this season. I think they will next year.

A prolific poster on TOB is digging in his heels and saying as long as Aubrey applies her "stellar defense" she'll get her minutes. It is true that over the years Geno will emply a defensive stopper, but these players have been starters who can both make an offensive contribution and contribute a good deal to the flow of the offense. Aubrey gets her few points as a 4/5. Others will hold those positions next year I hope.

Nika is beyond Chippy....she could play D for the Super Bowl XXI Chicago Bears. Nika chippy? Okay, I guess if "chippy" means tough-minded, relentless, never giving up. She's certainly that. Remember what Geno said about her NEVER committing a foul (in her mind)? So how about chippy as in "I'll go out there and knock YOU around!" Yeah I know: Not UConn's style........but still, sometimes, just sometimes I wish.........
