Brutalize the Blue Devils!!!!
As World War I ended, Duke's Board of Trustees, then called the "Trinity College Board of Trustees", lifted their quarter century ban of football on campus leading to an interest in naming the athletic teams. The team was then known as the Trinity Eleven, the Blue and White, or the Methodists (as opposed to the Baptists of nearby rival Wake Forrest). Because of the ambiguity, the student newspaper, the Trinity Chronicle launched a campaign to create a new mascot. None of the nominations proved to be a clear favorite, but the name Blue Devils elicited criticism that could potentially engender opposition on campus. These fears were partly alleviated when it was revealed that the name was military and patriotic rather than anti-religious; the name actually refers to the Chasseurs Alpins also known as "les diables bleus" ("The Blue Devils"), a French military unit which had impressed many Duke students and alumni returning home from the Western Front. The nickname of the Chasseurs Alpins was derived from the blue jacket and blue-grey breeches worn as part of their World War I-era uniform. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Devil_(mascot)#ReferencesFor a devilishly accurate analysis: doggydaddyuconn.blogspot.com/2024/03/doggydaddys-uconnduke-sweet-sixteen.html

Just a little pre game thought. In the first two games at Gampel, Ncaa matched Huskies with two well coached teams with size that had a lot of experience playing together. Mostly seniors and Grad students. Duke is a well coached but younger and less experienced team, on the rise. Jackson and richardson are their two big guns and must be guarded closely. They are deep and play 9, but normally not a really physical team.

The historic French Army rallying point was Pantalon Rouge (red pants). In WW1, French soldiers were dying in droves because they could not hide in the Ardennes forest in their bright red pants. The ranks begged for a change, but leadership thought it was more important that the boys went off "proud of their heritage", a relic of the days of Napoleon when opposing armies "shook in their boots" if they knew they were facing the French Army and not a group of hired guns (who were not allowed to wear red pants).

Last game of the Sweet 16, long wait till Saturday night. I sure hope the men's game Does Not Go To Overtime. Not that it's likely to, if they keep playing the same way. Their A- game seems to be pretty overwhelming.
4 hours of UCONN Basketball... YAY!

Such a dilemma. I’m going out in a date at 6pm and of course recording both games.
Typically I’d just watch the girls on a bit of a delay. No worries. However if I do that will find out the men’s score.
I can start with the men’s game then go into the women’s however I might see the game score at the restaurant.
I’m in a bad spot. Argh. Suggestions.
I know. Ditch the date. Not an option lol.

Or ... watch for the beauty of the game and worry less about the scores

We have dinner plans at a friend condo with a few people. I’m recording both games. I never mind knowing the results ahead of time. It’s better for my nerves.
My issue is looking at my phone every few minutes and surviving my wife kicking me every time I do it.

That is where an overactive bladder is your friend, even if it is a playing a bit of the hypochondriac card.

I scent a little chippiness in Geno's voice during presser. Personally, I'm hoping to see an edge in the Uconn players tonight.

Watching the men's game. Glad the USC Baylor game took longer so I can see the men celebrate winning the Elite Eight
