Too late for my blog.
I watched the first matchup with these two teams where Stanford won. I was not surprised that UCLA won this on.
Two losses in a row for the Cardinal. They should drop another couple of spots on Monday.
UConn’s win over Tennessee seems to have hurt the confidence of some fans.
from TOB.
”I watched the game. Both teams very impressive. Great offensive rebounding by UCLA. Stanford is incredibly deep. Both teams very athletic and aggressive. Both teams run good offense and are confident. Similarly both teams are very good on defense. I think both teams are ahead of where we are at this point. The point guard play was also very impressive for both teams. Both penetrating guards which I think would give us trouble. Very good game to watch.“
Their point guard play was very impressive? Well, UCLA’s PG had 1 assist and as a team they had 7 assist on 23 baskets and 12 turnovers. Williams’s did have 5 assists and only 1 turnover but as a team they had 12 assist on 27 baskets and 14 turnovers.
Stanford is incredibly deep? Huh?
They had 8 players with double digit minutes. Deep but not incredibly. And one starter only had 10 minutes. The bench scored only 8 points. One of the Hull sisters played 32 minutes off the bench and scored 1 point with 3 assists.
I guess it’s in the eye of the beholder, but I’m not impressed with either team.

I just finished watching the game seconds ago.
I say that Stanford is deep but "incredibly" is far too strong a term. There were nine players with meaningful minutes, but that was partly a function of files with Belibi, Jones and Brink oh with four fouls, and I'm sure Belibi was well under her usual minutes, playing only 16 due to foul issues.
I've said before that PAC 12 games can be exciting to watch. The pac 12 network had back to back to back games last night – I watched most of all of them and only the Washington state one disappointed in terms of performance — it had its own drama but it wasn't going into the film vault is a must-see game. I'm a fan of Arizona so I was happy to see them win after a slow start. the UCLA game was very entertaining. Frustrating at times with both teams ability to miss layups but UCLA went out to a small lead and held onto it most of the way until Stanford came back at the end, and you had the feeling that Stanford might steal this one but UCLA held on.
I don't know that I've seen as many bodies strewn around the floor in a game as I did in the UCLA Stanford game.

I can't believe I just wrote a post about that game without mentioning Osborne. She was a treat to watch. If there's a place in the film vault for examples of players playing hard, her highlights might make the cut.
