What a great report from the 3 Husketeers!
I don't want to sound ungracious, however, but DD, you clearly got it wrong on one point:
They shot 61.5% from the field, more than likely increasing their nation leading field goal percentage
Didn't you hear Geno say this was the worst shooting team he's ever had?

Yeah, he was talking about three pointers and they are now at 35.8. They were shooting 28.5 after their first three game and that was when Geno made that comment. The next three games they shot 37.1%. And now the last two games they shot 43.2%. Over the last 6 games they are shooting 39%. I think the last number is a better reflection of their long range shooting skills.

I love two things: the three Husketeers reporting and then the discussions of the reports afterwards over here, often with the Husketeers adding to the comments. That never happened before with any consistency and it really opens things up! Really needed the report on Squeaks and some facts about her game. Great work!

They got a lot above their ears! Hooray, hooray, hooray. But most of it isn't hair ... at least for some ... me included. Grins

Not sure why, but growing up I never had any particular interest in the Three Musketeers. I didn't read the book, I didn't watch the movie (I see there are at least six) or even the comicbook classics version. I took a quick glance at the Wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Three_MusketeersAnd the first thing the nerd in me noticed is that — there are four of them. What's up with that?

There are three of them, the trois derring-do companions of the protagonist d'Artagnan!

Not to be the only negative nancy here, but I have a bone to pick. I thought Nika was playing well enough. Apparently Geno not only disagreed with my (genius??) assessment, he felt it was necessary to make this kid cry during the game. Okay, she got beat on defense right before the time-out, if that was the cause of his diatribe at her, it sure seemed over the top to me. And I'm no snowflake. At least there weren't 12K people watching this kid break down. That she came back in and played well is a credit to her, so too is the fact that Geno went into teaching mode after grinding her down. Also that she was able to absorb Geno's teaching is another credit to her. I love my UCONN, and usually love Geno; this just made me angry and feeling protective of a kid far from home, playing a game she loves in the midst of a bizarre pandemic situation. ok, rant over.

I coached for 20 years on a volunteer basis, both boys & girls, all ages. My style was the opposite of Geno’s. Number 1 rule was you have to have some fun when playing. But high school was the highest level. He really demands perfection and seems unreasonable at times with his criticism. But UConn is the pinnacle of Women’s College Basketball. He is the way he is because it works for him. Not saying he isn’t over the top on occasion, like the other night. Wish I knew what he thought Nika did wrong and what he said that brought tears to her eyes. I felt really bad for her...☹️

I fault the camerapeople too. There is no need to be putting the camera on them at that moment.
