Probably an article out there. For now:

This is sooooooo interesting. Unlike Duke, where it was clearly the team's decision to quit, Kim is implying that her team must play because the school is requiring it.
OTOH, when she expresses concern for health, she mentions her own before the team's. Hmmmmm..... And jeez, she got C-19 at her own Christmas gathering, for goodness sake. No one made her have that....

But I wonder if she’s right about the money.

But I wonder if she’s right about the money. Of course it's about the $$$. But that is MBB, not WBB. True, if a large number of women's teams packed it in that would pressure the men's side and the NCAA might be quietly exerting pressure to stay the course.

Are there any examples of recorded Covid deaths from basketball players?

Are there any examples of recorded Covid deaths from basketball players? None that I know of. I would think that a death would be headlines at least in the WCBB world

Probably an article out there. For now: I suspect that for every person that bitches about the NCAA trying to keep the season going, there would be just as many that would bitch if the NCAA opted to shut it down. "You can please some of the people . . . . . . "

I don't understand the money consideration this year. Sure, there is TV revenue. But there is no ticket sales, and travel still costs, and maybe more because of the testing and other health cautions. I can't believe it's more than a wash.
Maybe it's a broader "money" issue: Baylor's public footprint. No secret that Baylor is in a very red part of TX, and no secret that red regions are more into life as if there were no pandemic. So, a major statement, like canceling a highly public sport, might be unpopular with alumni and donors especially as Baylor has a chance of doing what only UConn has done (2x): win both.

I refuse to read all her rant, but re: the men's tournament, of course it is money. The men's tourney makes virtually all the money the NCAA as an organization makes. I suspect you are right regarding the money consideration for WBB - more income from TV and such, more expenses from travel, etc.

The entire quotation is on the ESPN site, and she definitely links WCBB to MCBB. She's not attacking Baylor per se, but the NCAA, for needing MCBB and hence dragging WCBB in with it. Of course both Duke and Virginia have very strong men's programs, and yet cancelled their women's seasons.
