Check out Saylor playing for the USA U 16 team in the semifinals versus Puerto Rico. She first comes in around the 6:30 mark in the first quarter, and again at the 5:45 mark of the third quarter. Stay with her in the third quarter. You'll see her range in international competition. As a bonus, you'll also see DeBerry. If YouTube blocks the direct link, just click the underlined link that says Watch on YouTube. Saylor shows better passing skills than I remembered. Good understanding of where the ball will be going. Runs the floor well. Played on the PG on the trap, pressing D. Amari more touch than a younger ONO. Needed either more confidence or more fire in this game. Played reasonably well, and showed that there is a lot more on offer than we could see. This was a good tourney, but there wasn't much competition. Miles is going to be tough at ND. Miles, at that point in time was already better than what ND has at PG now.

And it's not even close. She's not as well rounded as Paige, a bit smaller, but her passing is outstanding.

ND will come back pretty fast. But Stanford is already back!

ND will come back pretty fast. But Stanford is already back! Agreed. Stanford has had some excellent recruiting success lately, after a mediocre stretch. Can the Irish get back to the head of the class? O. Miles is an exceptional start, but she'll need players around her to maximize her value ... like Paige has at UCONN. I expected this year to be difficult for ND, but not as bad as they've been. No one questions Niele's recruiting abilities, but can she develop them? Can she make the best use of the talents available? Can she motivate players? Brenda gets top recruits every year, but MD is rarely a FF contender. Finally, ND being so bad last year and again this season will probably set them back in the eyes of some recruits. Stanford, SCar, Oregon, Baylor have excellent coaches and can be expected to continue to challenge for NC consideration. Most expect Vic to get TX onto the bandwagon. Duke? Maybe.

The game was pretty raggety in the first quarter. Verhulst is pretty impressive too. Got to feeling sorry for Puerto Rico.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Stanford also grab Timea Gardiner, a tough 6-2 forward from Utah who also played for the above USA team.

If Saylor is a great three point shooter, maybe we can start singing "Poff the magic shooter lives by the three"?

True that some kids prefer to be a lone star or to be the first great at a new school, but those recruits are not going to ND. They're going somewhere else. Teams at the top mean you'll have talent around you. There will be lots of wins and coverage and attention from the pro teams. ND still has some of that, but it may dissipate quickly if they're outside of the rankings.

It took forever for ND to work its way back in football (and I personally think ND football is still a paper tiger: good but not great), so it could be the same in WCBB. As Swash says, there's a huge amount of competition now. A sobering concern for post-Geno UConn as well.

After that, I could get behind Carla, Shea, Jamelle, and someone.
