And the great thing is she'll get, if she wants, four more years of eligibility per the NCAA's ruling for all players this season.

Another surprise for anyone who was thinking 2021 would be predictable...
So is this six and a half freshmen or seven? ... or one frosh and the rest of the gang are suddenly promoted, since they're no longer the newbies? Do we call Paige and Aaliyah freshmores, now? I think I like that better than sophmen.
LOL. It was a battle to get those past autocorrect

Awesome catch, DD!
This is an investment in next year. She'll have an immense advantage in development, getting the academics and the rhythms of practice down now.

Figures, I was watching international swimming reruns when this news came out. Did not see this coming. Going to be fascinating to see the dynamics of this play out. Now, if we can get some games actually played ....

Seems like a good idea. If her HS isn't playing and she's done with HS, she might as well get started on college. And she doesn't lose a year for NCAA eligibility. Pretty much no brainer.
So we're gonna have 6 FR and 1 Pre-Freshman???

Not to mention that she could have a material impact this season if she can get up to speed quickly. Smart, 6'2", guard skills, aggressive underneath the basket, 3 point threat ... those sound pretty good. There is a logjam on the wing, though. She's an A-student who graduated HS a semester early, indicating a strong probability of both: 1. that she (and her family) take education seriously, and 2. that she has strong raw materials to help her learn quickly and fit into this team and the UCONN system Worst case, get a jump on coursework and internalize what will be expected of her in the fall. A win-win.

If what she wanted was a schedule and structure, she’s gonna love Geno.

Check out Saylor playing for the USA U 16 team in the semifinals versus Puerto Rico. She first comes in around the 6:30 mark in the first quarter, and again at the 5:45 mark of the third quarter. Stay with her in the third quarter. You'll see her range in international competition. As a bonus, you'll also see DeBerry.

great news for UCONN and for Saylor!
C.Williams better watch out, her minutes may start to drop.

UConn has arguably the most demanding offense and defense in all college basketball. Smart as she is, it'll take her more than a couple of weeks to get competent in it. She's not getting serious playing time until next year.
We're just going bonkers over here, desperate for good basketball news....

Runs the floor well. Played on the PG on the trap, pressing D. Amari more touch than a younger ONO. Needed either more confidence or more fire in this game. Played reasonably well, and showed that there is a lot more on offer than we could see. This was a good tourney, but there wasn't much competition. Miles is going to be tough at ND.

Will Saylor be more lost than Aubrey was last season? Because Griffin materially contributed to the team's advance late in the campaign, even if still a bit befuddled. Can she catch up to Mir, who shows great aggressiveness and athleticism, but not yet a full grasp on the plan? I'm just saying there is a real possibility that Poff will get audition minutes after a couple of weeks aboard and she may be able to use them to sneak into the back of the rotation by tourney time.
