And more: “I would like to think that if you’ve done something for 37 years or whatever it is, that you’re going to have some milestones,” Auriemma, 66, said after the Huskies defeated Providence 87-50 at Gampel Pavilion, a building for which there wasn’t a blueprint when he was hired in 1985. “And if you’re fortunate enough, you have some pretty important milestones. And if you’re lucky enough to be surrounded by the people I’ve been surrounded with, they are actually meaningful milestones. I’m sure someday I’ll be able to look back on all those and appreciate it when it’s all over.” Auriemma’s victory total is another entry into a long list of arithmetic that serves either as the most basic or most comprehensive guide in trying to appreciate his career. www.courant.com/sports/uconn-womens-basketball/hc-sp-uconn-basketball-geno-auriemma-pat-summitt-20210110-6hwsdyp42zacrisyxjbksr363e-story.html

On the ocassion of a milestone Geno will say he does not look back ... maybe someday. He's said it enough that I believe him. If he keeps looking forward he won't see time catching up with him.

During the press conference one of the interviewers mentioned that UConn has gone 1000 games without losing back to back games. I new it went back to the early 90's but never thought about the number of games involved. Imagine a golfer playing 1000 holes of golf without playing two successive holes over par.
