Let's face it. If Pat had not been struck down by that vile disease when she was, she would still be coaching and Tara and Pat would still be chasing her.
I may not have liked Tennessee, and I may not have liked the things Pat said and did about UConn, Geno and the players, but the woman could coach.
Some say the game was passing her by. Maybe it was, or maybe she just didn't have the time to adjust, or maybe the disease was impacting her ability to adjust. Maybe I am just mellowing as I get older, or maybe it is the effects of this week's shocking events that is tempering my previously intense dislike of Pat during her coaching years and the rivalry with UConn. In any event, Pat's stamp on women's college basketball will never fade, nor Tara's or Geno's for that matter.

Well said, Chappy. We fans disliked Pat unrelentingly. Clearly, Geno, who I'm sure didn't forget, forgave.
I guess we need to have two different channels. One channel is as fans we can hate on teams and players. The other channel is as humans, in that we appreciate the basic humanity of others. And, in a narrow sense, we all share a common passion for WCBB.

Some of the later unfortunate things Pat said / did may have been affected by the early onset symptoms of her disease and influenced by some of the people who surrounded her? Even the whole Maya Moore complaint may well have been generated in this manner? Either way; RIP Pat, I forgave, but still remember without anger.

I will never "like" her but I will always love what she did for the game in her heyday. She played us when we needed it. The stuff with Maya was disgusting, and I don't get over it. I still believe she was already sick when she did that crazy, mean list of "infractions." What a waste.
