Up by 12 with 3:51 left in the game, ND had no clue how to break a full court press. Boston College,0-4 in the ACC, went on a 18-3 run to end the game in what could be the worst collapse in recent memory.

Of all the horrible things that happened in the last year, the complete collapse of Notre Dame is....NOT. ONE. OF. THEM.

I have to think Sam Brunelle wants a do over. Probably even from the BC game. Apparently she suffered a collision that might have been a concussion.

In the 44-year history of Notre Dame women’s basketball, there have been many defeats by much larger margins than the 64-61 setback at Boston College on Thursday night, and there have been more heartbreaking losses on much grander stages.
But perhaps none quite rivaled the overall collapse seen at the Conte Forum in the closing minutes.
LOVE IT!

Mikayla Vaughn made a layup with 5:33 to go. I think that's the last basket they made in the game.
If I'm reading the play by play correctly they had consecutive turnovers at: 2:41 2:29 2:09 Timeout 1:53 1:10
I didn't see the game so I'm not 100% sure but it looks like five consecutive turnovers on five possessions.

She was pretty effective last year, but wasn't getting much playing time this year. When I raised that about a month ago, someone remarked that they thought she had showed up out of shape.

"Super disappointed with how we ended that game,” commented first-year head coach Niele Ivey. “I thought we lost that game with lack of discipline and lack of leadership on the floor. Hats off to Boston College for fighting back. Just taking care of the ball is a concern for us.”
Sounds just like Muffet, doesn't she? Except Muffet wouldn't have given BC any credit.

Can't remember if it was a knee... She flat carried them on several occasions last season.

Yes; the game was like the basketball equivalent of a Mel Brooks Comedy with a tragically hilarious ending....... .....devastating for ND fans, but joyous for the rest of us!!!

I don't remember what Sam's injury was, but she's likely still not 100% and she's likely also mentally fatigued from all of the negativity last season coupled with Covid!! Coach McGraw left ND in shambles last season IMO!!!

Yes and Muffett would likely have blamed Geno or Jeff Walz.......

She was injured earlier this season, but I forget what the injury was?? Preseason it was reported she was still recoverying from a knee injury suffered the prior season. She was cleared to play and 4 games in went out with a foot injury. In HS she had foot surgery. So, yeah, it has been a rocky beginning. I was happy not to have her end up at UConn. Very good shooter, but slow and maybe a little too stuck on herself.

I'm actually a Sam fan, and was just repeating what someone else had said. I agree that last year she was the bright spot on the team. And with her injury history and given her size, this could be a lifelong problem.

Just not that good. The more UConn evaluated her the more they backed off. In the 2018 U17 FIBA World CUP Coach Carla Berube barely used her, even in blowouts. 2nd least minutes on the team and least PPG. She and Brink just weren't on the same level with their other bigs. At least Brink has improved. Same then as now, big kid who wants to drift on the perimeter and shoot 3s. Plays straight up, not much lateral quickness and little defense. With UConn she might be getting McLean minutes. Maybe.
