Okay, things are very grim just now. The indoor heating season is certainly a compounding factor.
semper is correct that the Thanksgiving impact is not all the way over. That one hit, those first gen cases have mostly passed by now, but the secondary waves are still keeping the numbers up, even as each wave should be a little less (better) than its predecessor.
We can also expect that the Christmas wave will increase before it abates, and then have secondary and tertiary humps of its own.
We can look at the season to date with 20/20 hindsight and most would agree that, though more painful for us, the NCAA should have taken Geno's (and others') advice and delayed the season. Too late to undo that, but the obvious question would be should we put a thumbtack here, go for lunch, and pick up where we left off in a few weeks.

Pro:
- Protect our athletes and coaches from continued exposure while the holiday spike is at its worst
- Dramatically reduce the probability that the tournament will be impacted ... or worse infected
- If we don't do it now, we may be forced later anyway
Con:
- TV revenue may be less if we move the window, given competition with NBA & NHL playoffs, MLB starting up, etc
- If we set aside a gap of some fixed duration ... will all the players be sent home? If so, that just creates a new non-holiday hump in WCBB later. If not, the there is a limit to how much we can burden the players to be under lockdown AND still advance their basketball skills
- We're not likely to delay long enough for the players to be vaccinated anyway. They are the youngest and healthiest among us, thus likely to be last of the desirees (is that a word?) to get the shots. Waiting that long is essentially all the way to next year anyway. Many coaches will be earlier in line, however
