I was afraid of this. First things first. Let's hope her feisty spirit is more powerful than COVID-19, and she comes through with little to worry about beyond missing this game. I may not like her, but I have a lot of respect her and no one can diminish what she has accomplished at Baylor. This hurts more than just a lost game. It means that unless we add another top-ten team somewhere along the line, the SCar game is for all the marbles. Winner probably gets a one seed. Loser is a two or three. The Big East conference isn't strong enough to overcome that. Further, our young team needs a few real tests to help them get to where they need to be for a run at the end. Finally, At least we won't make the trip and take all that additional risk of our gang being infected.

What a deep, deep disappointment.
I wonder if Kim was being completely careful. I'm not trying to "mask shame" anyone, and other coaches have also tested positive. I know I'm just being angry, and the old blue state-red state thing certainly doesn't work either. I'm just wanting to blame this on someone, when in fact, stuff happens.....
swash: seeding won't matter much in a bubble tournament. Maybe play a slightly better 3 seed is probably the difference between being a 1 or a 2.

Maybe Louisville? Are they playing on Thursday?
Edit: Louisville's game with Pitt on Thursday has been postponed due to Pitt having COVID exposure. Maybe that isn't so far fetched. Geno and Jeff - Make it happen!

Got to roll with this. Not the fans, we are allowed to whine, but the team.
This is going to be a very interesting NCAA tournament. Most of the analytic ranking services need a lot of interconference games to work but most of them this season have been between miss-matched teams.

Texas is a pretty freewheeling state with the vaxx. Just sign up and get it. Like Florida. So, Kim and her family might have been just a couple of weeks away from getting vaxxed. Hope she's okay. Hope her family is okay. She's had her tragedies....

Maybe play a slightly better 3 seed is probably the difference between being a 1 or a 2. Hope you're right about the seeding. We have history on our side, which as we've seen with UTenn can carry you to places you don't deserve. The kids have proven that they can play as well, so that helps. But, this year a lot of the tools won't work. That means that a lower team with a good win could vault over a top team with an unexpected loss ... because there won't be enough data to "fix" the upset. College football suffers from this. ND beat Clemson and there was no choice but to put them high in the rankings, but then they couldn't compete with the top teams once they got there. That means that there could be a lurking ace or two in the 2/3 seedings, and we could have a wildly imbalanced bracket that results in an extra couple of games with very strong teams. Yes, UCONN should be able to come through a group of death bracket, but the odds would be tougher than other configurations. As far as the fans not mattering as much, I agree. But another wildcard at tourney time is the refs who come from different conferences and may have wildly divergent views on what constitutes a travel or a foul, etc. That won't change.

The only problem about being a 2 is that you may have to beat three 1's to win it. My favorite UConn title is the mens 2011 title because of how they won it. and the teams they beat.

So sorry, Ken. I have a friend in Dade County who just signed up himself and his wife (they got vaxxed yesterday) and he said all his friends are scheduled, too. Maybe they were able to work the system. I know there are young people in Texas who are getting vaxxed as well. Here in RI, it's completely systematic, with the most at risk getting it first, and no one can jump the queue.

That sounds more like the men's 2014 title. They needed a buzzer-beater to complete a come from behind victory in round one, then were literally underdogs for the other five of the six games, and wore the glass slipper all the way to a second double-title with the women! I don't follow the men that closely, but I loved watching those games with my son.
