So, a week and more later and we have had some fires already in Montana, mostly of the range variety. Ski hills have closed early. Some still carrying on. The heat has retreated a bit, so we are into the daily yo-yo. Wake up to 24 degrees and it's 55 in the afternoon. Once again we will have an extended and below average run off. This is bad for the rivers - high volume and chaos is good for rivers and the fish. This is good for the 80 year old one lane steel bridge that leads into the community in which I live. The river around the bridge has changed dramatically up river over the last few years and has carved away much of one bank right next to the bridge. The blessed Feds have stalled a permit process to restore the upstream bank and now everyone is in a wait and see mode. I figure with a couple of drones and a little practice I don't need no stinking bridge ...oh, wait, fuel deliveries, plumbers (they tend to be heavy right?), etc. Damn the Feds! When it gets its worst down there I'll snap a picture and post it.

Snowed 6 inches today all over Smuggler's Notch (Vermont) and was fab mid-winter skiing Yesterday, Good Friday, it was almost 70 A weird Spring in the NorthEast kingdom I'll take it. Olde Coaches' Burke Mt. will close tomorrow with 100% of the trails still wonderfully covered. Unfortunately, biz is down to Senior pass holders like me and walk-up biz, which pays the bills is almost non-existent. The racers are all on break and then they relocate to France.
Think Snow!
