I have strong opinions on this subject so I will save them to read your opinion. Is Constructive Criticism Constructive?

Criticism absolutely CAN be constructive.
But it is far too easy to find dialogue labeled constructive which is certainly far from it.

Yes, criticism can be constructive, particularly if it leads to productive dialogue which results in two (or more) people improving their relations with each other (say at work or as neighbors). We all come from different places, and may not realize that what is familiar to us is not familiar (or perhaps comfortable) to others.
That said, Swash makes a nice distinction that certainly has truth to it. It all depends on the sincerity of the parties involved.
I was taught early on, in business, a good negotiation is one in which all involved leave somewhat happy. Because rarely is everyone totally happy. But to reach a comfortable middle ground is a good thing. I feel the same way about constructive criticism.
That, as they say, is my two cents.

Dialog that leads to changes in attitude or direction is constructive, which may be considered constructive criticism--it depends on how the "dialog" is applied. Just my less than professional view of criticism. In my Contract negotiations and mostly in as legal Mediator I was very pleased when everyone walked away a winner OR when no one was exceptionally happy. The later meant that everyone gave something up to arrive at a positive conclusion. |

If I give it, it is very constructive. That's pretty much my view of it too. On a serious note, I think the best criticism is not delivered in a manner to be perceived as critical, but as a suggestion or an anecdote. |
