When Dave Benedict took the AD job at UConn he knew he would have to turn around a football program that Paul Pasqualoni and Bob Diaco turned in to a dumpster fire. He made the right call in firing that goofball Diaco who every week found a new rock bottom. Bringing back Randy Edsall was a solid choice and there are already signs that the football team will be a competitive team in a couple of years.
Benedict never expected that he would have to turn his attention to the men's basketball program but that's exactly what he needs to do right now. The men's basketball team is in trouble and Kevin Ollie won't have a lot of time to turn things around. The job Jim Calhoun did with the UConn men's program has to be one of the more remarkable accomplishments in the history of men's basketball. How ironic that his guy, the guy he forced Warde Manuel to hire, is now overseeing the demise of all that Jim Calhoun created. To make matters worse, it's been reported that Ollie has distanced himself from his mentor. They were National Champs in 2014 and after last season's sub-500 record have lost 3 players to transfer, the top recruit de-committed and now even mediocre recruits are passing on the Huskies.
Dave Benedict is earning every bit of his paycheck.

Excellent points, Cat. Not sure when it all started to go south for KO, but is has, and quickly. Something needs to change to get that program back on track.
