Here are the basic rules. They are really very simple:
1. This site is dedicated to and for fans of UCONN Women's Basketball. First. Foremost. Always.
2. Fans of other teams are welcome to join The Territory. But be forewarned: As Rule #1 states...This site is dedicated to fans of UConn Women's Basketball. We don't have to love your team, your coach, your fans...or your opinions.
3. This board is what you make it. Share your thoughts about the players, coaches, games, score predictions - whatever. Just use common sense. If you post something that is a rumor - expect to be called out on it!
4. Some words may be "filtered" to avoid commonly considered offensive words - as determined by the Admins. By "filtered", we mean "replaced" with something less blatantly offensive, and in some cases, humorous. Of course, you may not agree with the filtered words, their replacements or our attempts at humor. You can get creative with your own replacements...most of us will get the meaning.
5. Not everyone will agree. Not everyone will like each other. That's cool, we get it. We won't force everyone to "just get along". We are all passionate fans of our team(s). But, if you say something that other's disagree with, have a thick skin. This is a fan message board, not a place of work or a school. Civility is encouraged, but the admins will respect the right of others to be blunt in response and call shenanigans - or BS - to posts with which they strongly disagree.
6. It is our intent to never banish a poster from The Territory. Posters may be put in a time out - "In the Dog House" - if, in the judgment of the Admins, the poster is intentionally stirring up trouble and causing disruption to the board. To date, we have put only two posters "In the Dog House". We have never banished a poster.
7. Editing of posts will be kept to an absolute minimum. If one admin feels a post warrants editing, all admins will be consulted. Whenever possible, if your post is edited, you will be informed of the reason. However, admins reserve the right to make an immediate edit and consult with the other admins after the fact to explain the edit rationale. Posts, and in some cases entire threads, may also be moved to a more appropriate sub-board or to Off Topic as the admins deem appropriate.
8. If you disagree with an Admin decision, PM us with a calm and reasoned explanation of your position. We may not overturn the decision, but
you will at least have the opportunity to be heard.
9. We recognize The Territory may not be as "genteel" as other sites. We believe in, and respect, the 1st Amendment Right to Free Speech. Civility is, of course, strongly encouraged. But we are passionate fans, and passions sometimes lead to "intense" and more personally charged interchanges between posters. When this occurs, the thread will be moved to the "Pick'n Bones" board. Those who choose to follow along and see where the thread it goes, will be able to follow it there. Those who choose not to follow along will be able to continue to enjoy the boards "distraction free".
10. Try not to take yourself, your fandom, or each other too seriously. This is a fan message board. We are not here to solve world peace, end world hunger, or find a cure for cancer. You will not die if someone disagrees with you. Neither are you a rock star if everyone agrees with you. Discuss, debate, disagree, share in the joy that is UConn Women's basketball.
Finally, as Geno might write on the blackboard:
Post Hard.
Post Smart.
Have Fun!
