I started watching Netflix's "The Crown" this weekend. It is very good. It is a biopic about the early days of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. It is, obviously, based on fact, but I don't know how much of it is accurate and how much is creative license. For the most part, in the most significant aspects, it seems to be pretty factual.
Great cast, really high quality production values. It must cost a fortune to produce. Most of the cast I am not familiar with except for John Lithgow playing Winston Churchill.

I recommend Nobel. Swedish - subtitled. Sort of an international/diplomacy/war who done it. Just 8 episodes. Very good in every way.

I have my DVR set for Tuesday night to record Tony Bennett's 90th Birthday Tribute Concert at 9 PM. Quite an array of singers.

The Man In The High Castle, on Amazon is pretty good. Interesting look at what life might be like (well during the early 60's), if Germany and Japan had won WWII. I've watched Season 1 which was pretty good, and am starting Season 2 now. They just released it. Still pretty good.
If you've never seen The Wire (2002-2008, 5 seasons) or True Detective Season 1, and you like crime drama, these are must sees. Two of the better shows ever done.

Wife and I watched Sneaky Pete on Amazon. Starring Giovanni Ribisi. Good acting, cool story. Especially if you like "con" stories like The Sting, Paper Moon, Ocean's 11, etc.
It's a series though (10 episodes). Good one.

FWIW my wife watched (and I saw a lot of) Being Warren Buffet on HBO. It was actually quite good, I had to run an errand in the middle.
I see the Tony Bennett birthday bash mentioned. Have it on the DVR, believe me it is by no means the "oldest" recording on there.

Netflix: Shetland. New arrival. Sort of a Euro formulaic: detective with damage. new assignment. Shetland Islands. Scottish. No subtitles though there are times I want them. The Shetlands grab me. The cool, wet places of Scotland are in my DNA (dad's clan from the Isle of Man). Anyway, I like European TV, simply because, at least I suspect this is the because, not everyone in them is beautiful in our wonderfully blank sort of American TV way. A realer slice of life. I give it 3 1/2 thumbs up.

NOT: Netflix bally hooed War Machine movie in which Brad Pitt plays the US General in charge in Afghanistan . From the git go it's a mess. Pitt gets to wear this frozen semi-smile ricktus thing and walk around like Pop Eye while every antiwar anti-Washington cliche gets sprinkled liberally. yes, it's catch 22 for morons.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Genius on Nat Geo. It is an excellent handling of Walter Isakkson's book on Einstein. A wonderful mixture of great minds and personalities of the 20th century.
