Eventually triad for you there will be no burger joints left to conquer; you do realize this ... yes? What then, ribs, chilly, (tacos are beneath you) pizza I suspect already conquered? funny you mention this about chili.... there was an article in the paper today about a local place that serves Cincinnati style chili. Its celebrating its 30th birthday this week... with a special birthday celebration this friday. its only about 3-4 minutes away... but its only open during the weekdays from 9-2pm........ never really thought much about going there. But reading the article made me curious... and the chili sounds real good... and ive never had it cincy style. Think imma check it out before the end of the year. As for taco's..... thats also on my to do list to explore further. There are a lot of mexican restaurants and food trucks in my city..... actually there is a food truck that is camped out across the street from the place where i get pizza..... i may check them out this weekend.. i assume they have tacos. If you tried the Cincy chili - what did you think? They have a chain out in Ohio called Skyline Chili - it wasn't my favorite, although the concept of eating it on Spaghetti was kind of tasty. Mexican is big where I am (Arizona), course a lot of it in general is Tex Mex, but we have some of the real stuff as well. Fond of a very famous local establishment called El Charro (and I do mean actually famous) and a fast food joint called El Taco Tote, which chain is actually based in Mexico.

Very fond of Tex Mex, but rarely get it 'cuz I have a spouse who gets sick if she's in the same room with a chili pepper. She's away 'til next week so I'll get some today! Thanks for the reminder.

I am on a sodium restricted diet. Most of the food I get to eat is so bland that sometimes I have to choke it down. HOWEVER - thank God for Mexican food. Tonight I made steak and shrimp fajitas with peppers and onions wrapped in a corn tortilla (flour tortillas have too much sodium) and covered with a spicy tomato, black bean and corn salsa. Fortunately the wife likes spicy Mexican as much as I do.
RMB2 - do what I do. at least one night a week we have a "do it yourself" night where we both cook. She makes what she wants and I make what I want. We usually choose something the other doesn't like. This week she had liver and onions with perogies and I had Ahi sashimi.

Knightsbridge - we used to vacation in Scottsdale (for the golf). The last couple of trips our Mexican favorite was "The Mission." World class pozole. It's been a few years so I don't know if it's still open. We would rent a house for a week and eat Mexican for just about every meal. I am on a sodium restricted diet. As the carver of the Roast Beast, which is coated with a skin of thick slice apple bacon, by the time the platter is full I am too.

We stood outside in line yesterday for over a half hour (<40* and a 20 mph wind) to pick up our fresh (killed and plucked that day), overpriced (4X Butterball price) turkey. We opted out of the factory turkey for the 1st time ever because of the high sodium content. All I can say is that the s o b better be good.
The menu -
Spicey Corn Chowder Turkey Mashed potato Home made corn bread stuffing Gravy Grilled Brussels sprouts Grilled squash Home made cranberry Home made dinner rolls lots of pies
Somebody is probably bringing the ubiquitous green bean casserole

We'll be having our traditional vegan Thanksgiving. Have a good one, all you foodies. PS I make my cornbread with soy milk, and it's seriously good.

Hope yours pleases too.

No more Taco Bell for me..... not anytime soon............ very unsatisfying tonight.... Bad thing is... I had leftover food at home that I needed to finish and planned to eat tonight...... but i was driving by taco bell...didnt even think the dining room was open... but voila it was... and the rest is history. Dunno when imma finish eating that squash, macaroni an cheese and country style steak. Maybe ill have it for breakfast or a midday snack before thanksgiving dinner. just discovered that putting ranch dressing on squash casserole makes for a tasty addition. Oh you wag! I dunno what wag even means... must be some saying from the 1950s

We did the Turkey (Butterball, which we usually avoid but was actually good, cooked as always in a Nesco Air Roaster), mashed, mashed sweet potato as well, turnip, sausage stuffing, green bean casserole and not home-made cranberry sauce. Pumpkin Pie from Costco and jello with fruit in it (cause my wife doesn't like Pumpkin Pie). Unfortunately followed by 3 straight days of left-overs. Yesterday I brought in some Chinese and today one of my home-made (but frozen) meat loaves.

We finished the turkey soup yesterday. A home made cranberry sauce no one went for much is still in the fridge refusing to get moldy.

A guest at Thanksgiving brought a cranberry/orange relish that was fantastic and I still have some. Crap, now I'm hungry. I bet that relish would be great in a turkey sandwich. Do I have turkey? No. Do I have bread? No. Road trip coming.

Poutine is typically a French Canadian dish but it has been migrating south as chefs realize how tasty (and marketable) it is. The best I have had was in Quebec city. This summer my wife ordered it as a brunch course at Leunig's in Burlington. A huge pile of fries topped with cheese curds, brown gravy, chicken fried steak and two eggs! She was overwhelmed, so naturally I came to her rescue.
