Okay, I confess. I'm an on-line shopping junkie. Nope, not jewelry, shoes, knives or pots and pans. It's firearms (big surprise, right?). And I swore I would not buy another one this year. I'd just peek now and then. Well, that's worked for about 45 days, but now... now there is this 1966 Marlin 336 that is just primo supremo ... what a conundrum. The auction clock is ticking... tick... tick... tock. Did I mention my gun safe is full?

Oh, fell into a cement shooting bench at the range yesterday and hurt some ribs ... now I'm laughing at your post and hurting at the same time. Good medicine though. PS. I'll send you a map. Reasonable camping rates. Heck, we can set you up in a bunker with a pile of ammo and a long gun!

Sounds like a plan to me! I haven't shot a long gun in 40 years, but that's another story from my youth....I enjoyed it, tho. (target practice on the Indiana Dunes...)

My father's favorite deer slayer for a number of years. It put lots of venison on the table.
The big advantage over the Model 94 Winchester was the side eject and the 35 cal round put stuff on the ground.
What to do? Buy another gun safe or build a gun room.
On edit - just to show how things have changed. I grew up in a home where there were guns all over the place. My father had a gun display case that was never locked, we had guns hanging on an open rack in the den, guns stored in closets and under beds. I got my first gun, a single shot Stevens .22, at age 8. By age 10 I had graduated to a side by side 20 ga and a Winchester model 94 deer rifle.
Most of my friends were the same. Nobody ever shot anyone or would ever use a gun except for hunting or target practice. Interestingly, I don't think anyone owned a pistol.

My two main deer hunting rifles are a German 8mm Mauser my dad brought back from WW 2 and which I sporterized and floated and blued the barrel. The second is a 5.5x65 Swedish which I put a Fajen custom stock on, blued and floated the barrel and set up with a scope. It is great for groundhogs, coyote, and deer with a strong heavy stock for bench shooting. It is tremendous from a stand.

I've got 2 94s, but confesss to not liking the feel of the action in ejecting and feeding. 'Course, neither is broken in. Who said all my guns are in the safe. It's a pain when a grandchild shows up, but I have 3 handguns tucked here and there and a 22 magnum coyote scarer in the front hall closet. Every once and a while a coyote decides to get too close, so I put a couple of rounds in the dirt. BTW I have been an adult and let myself be outbid on both 336s. Sniff, sniff ... bidding on a Finnish Mosin Nagant now!

Nowadays they are rare unless of the South American armory variety.
