Does anyone else see the irony of a season long farewell tour for Kobe? The Lakers were once one of the greatest basketball franchise and Kobe, and a management which always blinked when he gave them to stare, have turned that team into a joke. Celebrities still show up at home games, but they aren't there to watch, but to be watched. I no longer care about anything in the NBA and Kobe's career and high jinx are chart toppers as to why.

I mean just like Jeters I think it's a bit to drawn out but he is one of the best ever.
I don't really think he turned them into a joke. If you are reffrring to these past few years, it's because of injury and not being the same since.
His 2008 Olympic performance was one for the ages.
Tonight he set a NBA season high in points at 60, and a NBA all time high with 50 shots attempted. The greats get special treatment, just how it is.

50 shots! Wilt would have had 90+ points with that many shots.

Kobe signed his most recent contract for significant money. The Lakers offered, and Kobe took it. Blame the Lakers. But, as a result, it was difficult for the Lakers to "buy" other super star free agents to come to L.A. Tim Duncan in San Antonio did the opposite. Reportedly, his personality conflicts with some team mates led to departures of existing players from the Lakers. All this is what I heard or read, so take it for what it is worth.

Did some research and Kobe's career earnings at the Lakers was $323,000,000 (yes, millions). Over the last three years he earned $26,317,000 (yes, millions again).
As to his personality. Shaq, Dwight Howard and Paul Gasol all indicated he was a reason for leaving the Lakers.
