As far as I'm concerned, you could elect West to the HoF 10x and it wouldn't be too many. The consummate teammate and team leader. He did so many great things. Just two: 1. His shooting percentage over a year was tracked and it showed that it actually went up when the game was close at the end. 2. One time he was on defense, trailing a 3 on none fast break. No way to stop that, right? He decided to sprint and jump into one of the passing lanes in the off chance the point was going to pass and pass to that side. It worked. Like going for an inside straight. He just always knew what to do. Someone of consummate judgment. Jerry West was elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 1979. Then he made it a second time in 2010 in recognition of the 1960 United States men's basketball team, which won gold at the Summer Olympics in Rome.
Now West has been elected a record third time into the Hall, this time in honor of his work as the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies' general manager and also his stints as a consultant with the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.bleacherreport.com/articles/10115493-report-lakers-legend-jerry-west-elected-to-basketball-hof-for-record-3rd-time

I don't remember him as a player - and don't even follow the NBA particularly - but even I am familiar with West's work as an executive. Good for him, always seemed like a nice guy.
