So Hidalgo had to have nose jewelry removed during the the game. Is there something about these rules that they don't understand ? Apparently she's been allowed to play like this all season. Until today.

Until today. NDame has special rules. We know this to be true since Arike attacked Jefferson from behind and threw her to the floor without a whistle. When she did it a second time it was not considered flagrant enough to toss her, unlike the over-reaction to Cardoso's push of an LSU player. Sometimes even a horse who has been dead for a long time carries a stink and needs to be dragged out.

Until today. She has generally had tape over it. I've seen this with other players, I'm not sure it is strictly legal but I have seen it, often with ear studs. I think someone on Arizona softball was in a similar "taped up" situation a few years ago. It is generally allowed, regardless of whether it should be. Supposedly, jewelry is a point of emphasis for Sweet 16 officials. So my question is - who else is suspected of violating the rule?? Because if it was aimed only at one player, the appropriate action would be to notify the team / player I would think.

Interestingly, I read that Hidalgo was quoted as saying she intended to wear it again next season until someone tells her to remove it. I guess this is the kind of respect for rules taught at Notre Dame.
