Yesterday, we brought our 13 yr. old Golden retriever to the Rainbow Bridge. Stace and I met 21 years ago training our dogs for agility competition. He was having some wierd bloodwork results and a month ago an Ultra Sound found several tumors. He began refusing food which is the first terrible sign. We cooked whatever we could get him to eat and were at least able to make it thru the holidays all together. He remained willing for everything but the loss of weight showed the last couple of days and we knew he was uncomfortable. We've raised several dogs together and have gone thru this before , obviously. I found out yesterday, that it never gets any easier. At least for me , as I'm older it was more difficult. Our dogs kept us sane during the pandemic and everything else. They give us SO VERY MUCH. So Sad. I am normally a very private person, but just had to get this out of my system.

So sorry for your loss - our furry families are so dear to us all. Know that your fellow pet owners feel for you. Sure you were a great comfort to him.

So sorry for your loss. It really hurts to lose any member of the family, and our fur babies are indeed family members. The good/bad thing with our fur family members is we can humanely end their suffering. It is a difficult decision to make, but in the end it is an act of love because many pets, especially dogs, will hang on as long as they can to serve their humans. If they are suffering, it is a kindness to ease their pain. You are in my thoughts.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
We currently have our almost 15 year old Shi-Tzu on "hospice" care. She was in a similar condition to your pet in August, and was diagnosed with Liver Cancer. However, the lack of appetite was brief, apparently she had a liver infection along with the cancer. With twice a day pain pill (mild) she has lost weight, and sleeps more than ever, but after 5 months still doesn't seem to be suffering. Absolutely eats. But we are prepared. Or, as you indicate, as prepared as you can be.
Every time I hear of someone's pet going over the Rainbow Bridge (as they say) I remember all of ours that are gone.
As I say, so sorry for your pet's passing.

So very sorry, magic. No one can fully appreciate another person's loss, since the experiences of love and attachment are individual and personal. You have my sympathies.

Our fur babies matter. You have my deepest sympathies for your loss.
For many like me, it is our pets who keep us going, getting up and living. Without mine I know my life would be bland and sad.
I expect when my time comes to be greeted with wet noses, cat kisses, puppy kisses and lots of wagging tails.
Hang in there, friend.
