Some of what Dan just sent along:
Still, the Huskies don’t expect their freshmen to single-handedly replace Fudd and all the other injured players. Good luck telling Shade that.
“She understands now we've got two kids on our team that aren't playing that would probably have taken 16 threes probably between the two of them — at least,” Auriemma said, referencing Fudd and Ducharme. “So you spend an hour with her the other day talking to her off the ledge. The mental ledge of ‘I'm letting everybody down. I'm not who I am. I'm not who I want to be.’ So you got that going for you every day. Right? That's the trials and tribulations.”
Shade has shown what she can do in flashes. She had 10 points against Maryland and gave UConn good minutes as a starter in the win over Kansas as well. She’s also shooting 71.4 percent on mid-range shots — a key staple in her game — but has struggled from three at just 16.7 percent. The Huskies know she’s better than that, but it’s just a matter of confidence.

I say put her in the line up and let her go. Let Paige run the show and show her the ropes. I like her mentality to want to be good. The more she plays the thinking will be put aside and natural movements will take over.

Sure, there'll be big mistakes--defensive lapses especially--but there's possibly big payoffs too. Let it rip now (for Ice as well) and there could be big rewards in March. This would really psych me!

Yeah, just don't over expect. We are going to lose some games. And so what?

and further more Ash WANTS to play - she also wants to be perfect Well, she is going to get the former in spades...given what I have seen in her in her recruiting videos, interviews, and what I have seen in the games, she is s great fit to step in. the latter will come when she gets used to this big change and she gets used to letting this level of game come to her.
She's gonna be terrific.
