WHO has declared that bacon and other processed meats like ham and sausage cause cancer. Not who! WHO. As in World Health Organization.
Just about everything we ingest causes cancer - if you believe every study that comes along.
I'll take my chances. I have given up most carbs - and I miss bread dearly I am not giving up bacon. No way! No how! (Have some in the oven right now, thank you!)

Meatballs wrapped in bacon, with BBQ sauce. mmmmmmmm. Gotta get you some. bearsbbq.com/

The list of things that I'm not supposed to eat due to my thyroid is already too long. They want me to give up:
Gluten Soy (I don't like soy milk but it gets insane because soy is in EVERYTHING--just like gluten) Cruciferous vegetables Peanut Butter Nightshades
Forget that. It feels like it's a short list but it's too restrictive. I'll keep my bacon, thank you. In fact, we took mini chick to a sports bar downtown tonight (half block from the library) and had dinner there and I had a bacon cheeseburger. Told hubby that it reminded me of the pig and cow who are friends 'til the end. Pfft.
Mmmm... bacon. I was also eating paninos this afternoon. Which I know it's not the same thing but... it's still awesome. And part of it still comes from a pig.

Have a daughter with Hashimoto's (or however you spell it) and the dietary restrictions are pretty tight, but it leaves you eating very healthy. Still, you want to indulge now and then. I myself will indulge in a Perkin's Tremendous Twelve Sunday AM.

I heard on Mike & Mike, it's a health food program on ESPN - very popular...anyway I heard there that it's not bacon that is the problem, it's processed bacon?!? What am I missing here. Not that it matters. I suspect my body glows in the dark from what I have ingested in almost 7 decades. Bacon vs. processed bacon? Oxymoronic to me, but willing to learn. Wait, Icebear probably has 30- 40 Cracker Barrels or whatever they call them within 50 miles of him, making him an expert about processed meat products...right?
PS. I have turned the hour glass over on this one. Guess why.

We, also, have access to locally smoked thick cut honey cured bacon. All natural, no chemicals and nitrates.

Regular bacon has a long shelf life because it's cured and has plenty of salt or whatever in it. "Processed" bacon is what the cockroaches will be eating after the apocalypse.
