From Her Hoops:
Dorka Juhász
As a second-round pick for the Minnesota Lynx, Juhász has been one of the biggest steals of the draft. She’s also been one of the most consistent rookies, with solid production on both ends of the floor in nearly every game this season. Averaging 6.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, the 6-foot-5 forward has started in 25 games this season and ranks second in double-doubles (five) among all rookies. After Minnesota’s recent overtime win against the Atlanta Dream, Cheryl Reeve discussed her rookie’s all-around stellar performance—which included 12 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists.
“I thought Dorka was just—I mean from the jump, she was locked in,” Reeve said. “It's very difficult to try to schematically…try to challenge [Cheyenne] Parker for her catches—or any of their bigs—and then also be there for help when the guards are getting beat. And then also get a rebound when you had to rotate. And then offensively, she gives us ball movement. You know, she's a player that keeps it moving, and she's really learning how to play when people are leaving her. And they were flooding and helping. And Dorka had some really big plays for us: five offensive rebounds—and those extra possessions were awfully meaningful—and six assists. And I know she was gassed, right? But that's again—I want rookies to feel like that. Cause that's what it takes. You leave here exhausted. And then you take care of your body, and you try to do it again on Sunday.”
That’s basically what Juhász did, too, contributing 10 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists against the Phoenix Mercury and joining Candace Parker as the only rookies in WNBA history to have consecutive games of 10+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 6+ assists. These performances have undoubtedly cemented Juhász a spot on the All-Rookie team, which will likely be the first of many significant accomplishments she’ll achieve during her professional basketball career.
