I think ND is a sleeping giant. And there are signs that they are starting to come alive. if Miles hadn't been hurt, they could have gone deep. It pains me to say it, but they are back. So you have no concerns about Miles coming back 100% and not reinjuring herself? Maybe UConn's injured should get treated in S Bend where the prognosis is always positive. But despite that I would pick ND to win the ACC. I remember that when they entered the ACC from the BE they went undefeated in-conference for two years.

I expect Miles to play and be healthy. Notre Dame has brilliantly downplayed her injury from the beginning though. So, I could totally be wrong.
If they don’t have her, they have Hidalgo. And I think she can contribute right away.

I wish the injured a speedy and full recovery and completely mediocre play thereafter.

I really only have doubts about Paige injury wise.
Maybe Azzi to a lesser extent? I view her injury last year as a fluke.

I think Azzi is better than Van Lith. Azzi is more gifted. That’s not to say Azzi is perfect. I think she could learn some things from Hailey. Intangible wise.
I saw Van Lith and Azzi went to a camp together right after the season ended. Maybe it was Kelsey Plum’s camp? I can’t quite remember. Would have been fun to watch them in that environment.

Azzi would be the best player in college basketball.

Fudd over HVL and it isn't remotely close.
Will be interesting to see HVL this season....

I like HVL quite a bit. But she is always at a program I can’t stand. I really liked the rumors that had her going to Washington or Oregon. Could have rooted for her there. Not at LSU though.

Yet in NCAA Final 4 her last two years she played poorly vs players not the same dog as her. So, what does your comment mean? You like style over substance?

Dog has more to do with toughness than style. I agree Nurse had some dog however her skill level nowhere equals Azzi therefore your point is, well not a point. I like the toughness and grit I believe I see in Van Lith. I’d like to see the same in Azzi. Anyone who follow basketball knows what is meant by “dog” in a players game. You’ll even hear players refer to each other as dogs! Yes attitude is part of a players game.

You’ll even hear players refer to each other as dogs! Yes attitude is part of a players game. You are making up "dog" to fit your agenda. That's why I brought it up. In one breath it's about toughness with Van Lith overr Azzi but yet it has nothing to do with toughness when it comes to Nurse? The goalposts move with the cliche "dog." To further that I was comparing "dog" of Nurse vs her Final Four opponnents. She would have been considered "a dog" beucause as you say she is tough and also she made the WNBA for a reason she was one helluva player. That's a definition of a dog too. But it's meaningless other than style. Azzi is built like a rock and plays physcial for her size. Nobody knocks a healthy Azzi off the ball in her hands. Small guards bounce off her it's why she is able ot get off many 2's and why it's not so bright to put the smaller quicker players on her- she is too strong for most. Nor does she go charging through the lane depserate to throw her body praying the refs will bail her out. And when she is in the lane nobody can bump her off balance on offense. It's only the taller uber-athlete that gets close can sometimes gve her trouble especially when playing hurt. Van Lith is going to get shoved aside by a player like Boston just as easy as Azzi would. They're both guards. Physical. None is more of a dog than the other. Azzi is just better if she is healthy. The dog terminology here between the two has no substance. No meaning. In regards to attitude it's very bias to the style of player we like. As stated "stlye over substance." Hence the player we like . . . --> "dog."

I know you aren't talking to me. But I have an opinion. I will share it.
I view "dog" a bit differently.
Van Lith and Azzi have totally different personalities on the court. Hailey is as intense as anyone in college basketball. This fanbase loves how intense Nika is on the court; Hailey is comparable to nika in that regard. Azzi talks about having fun on the basketball court and will hit a few shots and will be beaming with the most bright smile in all of college basketball.
Also, I view HVL as more intense than Azzi on the court, but maybe this is not totally fair. Consider. Hailey is a senior. Azzi is a junior. Azzi was coming back from an injury last year. And I think Caroline and Azzi both deferred at times on the court as freshman out of respect for the seniors. It is possible we will see a more intense Azzi this year. But Hailey can never be knocked in that category either.

So what does smiling mean other than - and I don't mean to be offensive- that you perceive someone who smiles as not too intense As far as deferring - well UCONN did get to the Finals that year. So maybe deffering and her injury issues wasn't so bad and maybe the right thing to do. And the game Azzi played vsUCF - I can't recall many smiles and there was a good shot UCONN woudl have lost if not for Azzi, right? Just because a player smiles means what? I reiterate style over substance. i specifically recall Azzi smiling vs Iowa on one play was when UCONN took the lead and Azzi hit her 1st three of the 2nd half. This means she is less intense because she doesn't wear a scowl? Or maybe she needs to trash-talk so she can show to fans that "she is a dog?"

Smile or not, I do think she is less intense sometimes. She can be passive sometimes. I know as a freshman I wish Azzi had been more aggressive. I was one of the people saying I wish she had more of a Caroline mentality on the court.
I am not totally satisfied with the early returns on Azzi. She was recruited as a generational talent and I see that. The talent is undeniable. I want to see her kick it up a notch this season. I know she can do so.

Van Lith has to be intense and scrappy because she's 5'7. To my eye she plays on the edges of control, using double spin moves that usually end up with missed shots. I've watched her since U17/U19 USA ball. Comparing her to Fudd isn't a fair fight.

Fudd is way more talented. Van Lith completely maximizes her talent. That has always been my argument.

The first 3 games last year showed Azzi as healthy and a genertional tlent. If she's healthy again, with Paige supporting her, I expect great things. Paige is so giving she may well choose to supplement Azzi more than take charge herself.

She is not here to be Paige's Robin.
