moving up quickly in the 2025 class to #15. 6'3" (or 6'2" depending ) really, really, really tough kid. Iowa, Oregon and Southern Cal have already offered her. She's going to be a treat to coach. She's as hard nose as they get. Right now, I can't see UConn offering her. She'll need another year: a bit more speed, outside shot, just a bit more demonstrated court savvy. She's not a natural 3; might have to be an undersized 4. But fingers crossed! though maybe another Kyla? “I hope to develop more as a player,” McGaughy said. “Right now, I’m not near where I want to be. I want to be the best. To do that, I’m just going to have to keep going to the gym and grinding like I always do. My goal is to get more of those East Coast coaches to look at me. My dream school is UConn. And all those teams over there – it would be so cool to reach out to them and see if they’re interested in me. www.spokesman.com/stories/2023/may/10/colfax-basketball-standout-brynn-mcgaughy-grabbing/newspaper reference ripped off shamelessly from the no-fly-over radioactive zone; the other stuff I found. My stuff is better. :-)

As a rising HS junior she's already better than Irwin ever got to be.

Saying Brynn is like Kyla is akin to a simpleton on TOB once saying Britt Prince was Paige 2.0. Ridiculous. Someone saw a big brunette and Kyla popped in their head. Do a little research first on Brynn. I agree “Do better” B Mac will be a beast by the time she is a high school senior.

Pretty unfair to attack me for hair color associations, right? Do you really think I’m that stupid? Don’t answer that! :-)
What I’ve been seeing in the various tapes I’ve watched is a kid who had a huge amount of spunk and commitment. And a huge heart. I think that should have been very, very clear in my opening statement. What I didn’t see yet (and I emphasized she’s only going into her junior year) is someone who has much of an outside shot (YET), or quick moves to the hoop (YET) or explosive rebounding (YET).
Women in the 6’2/6’3 range are sort of tweeners and have to show speed, or a great shot, or super finesse, or something, ‘cause they’re just a bit undersized 4’s. The competition has become so intense that you really have to have a great number of natural gifts to play in the very top tier. A lot of kids do great in high school with above averages skills and a great motor, but can’t get to the next level where they’d be starting material for (say) a top 5 program. That’s true in all sports. I’m not saying this is Brynn. Just saying I’m not confident yet. Of course, I hope I’m wrong. But if you compare her to Arianna Roberson—who is a year ahead of her—you see a lot of difference. That gap might close with a year’s work. But maybe not. Morgan is following Arianna and I’d be surprised if UConn doesn’t offer her as well.
Rereading what I wrote—which I stand by—I can see a cause for misinterpretation. When I said “Right now I can’t see UConn offering” I meant “right now” temporally,, not that they won’t offer eventually. Geno often likes to hang back and offer late. I should have made the “right now” modify offering, not “I.”

Hmmm? Iowa. Hurry Geno before we have another Toomey incident! Do you know if there was a problem with UConn’s recruitment? I was led to understand that she wanted to be in 2 sports, including golf. Be interested to know if there were other considerations

I thought Geno had abandoned the I'll wait approach to recruiting. Is there somebody in that class he's hoping to get as a forward who is clearly superior? She can't take an official til this fall, right?

Thanks so much as always Ken. If she wants UConn and she’s as good as these stories, hope we lock her up early.

Be interested to know if there were other considerations There was no "Toomey incident".......... ........she was on Geno's radar, but she chose NC. Recruiting 101 - no matter how well you recruit, some will chose other schools. I'd lose or give up Toomey for El Alfy 8 days of the week. BTW....Toomey wasn't dreaming of UConn and she made her choice based upon factors in her mind that we're not aware of? Unless, of course, someone had a meeting with Claire Voyant?

The Toomey incident was very real (in my head). She was a recruit I really wanted so when she chose UNC I was distraught and devastated. No other known factors played a role in the “incident” I believed and still do that Toomey has Stewie like attributes.

But, as folks recently reminded us, Jana might have been the result. It'll be interesting to see which would have been the better road to go....

Bruder has to feel quite good about Iowa's chances with Miss 6'2". At least until she visits UConn's First Night or whatever its called now.

She can't take an official til this fall, right? Other than a bunch of social media posts why is she suddenly so important? She is ranked 15th on ESPN while Kelis Fisher is 22. Geno has offered Fisher and not Brynn. I'm going to assume he has his reasons. Maybe she has to check a couple more boxes on his sheet.

Brynn plays in a small AAU market and just recently hit the scene hard. If I’m not mistaken not many knew of Brynn until recently. I’m not even sure the UConn staff has seen Brynn up close and personal. She and Kelis are two totally different type players who play different position. linkster she is important because some of us like what we see in her game so far.

According to BJ42, she's dyed-in-the-wool Irish old pics and subject to change. I remember when KLS was going to Stanford like her sisters. We still have hope for Woliczko until the ink dries.

Old photos posted on June 25th? Looks like they're pretty excited about their long time favorite school to me.

Never said anything about when they posted the pics. Like I said until the ink dries.

Those posts tell me that her father is a huge ND fan. Whether she is as GaGa as he is is undetermined. I was a huge NDame fan when I was 14.
