This is originally from a major expose by Navalny's group, Over 10 minutes of evidence shown a few minutes in.

IDK, if Sveta had had children, I'm thinking someone would have posted it here or on TOB. I don't remember reading anything about that.

Apparently the news of the birth was posted on Instagram. Did a Google search, and there is a link to TOB where there was a thread back in 2017 of Sveta having given birth to twin girls.

I only remember hearing bits and pieces. I remember hearing Sveta had a big job with the Russian National basketball team. or whatever it's called. I remember the story about the twins, don't recall anything about the father. Did not know she evidently has duel citizenship? Have seen pictures of her posing with Ex UCONN players (actually no such thing) at various Final Fours. Didn't know she had moved back to the U.S. for a time. In the past Geno has said that he's talked to her on the phone, sounded like it was a fairly regular thing. My tummy ain't feeling so good about this story either. Have no idea what her politics are, but I do know that being that well known means that one critical peep out of you and you run the risk of running afoul of the regime.

What I've found in just a few seconds (will try harder later) is that Svet is indeed, according to Wikipedia, partners with Solovyov. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Solovyov_(TV_presenter)And yet, under his personal life, he has 8 children specifically linked to his 3 wives (not mentioning Svet there) and seems to be currently married. This certainly doesn't preclude him having other children with Svet out of wedlock. But then it's strange that on its sidebar Wikipedia lists Svet as his partner without mentioning his supposedly current wife. Wikipedia has improved dramatically over the last several years in terms of accuracy. But I don't understand this.

Great catch, Chappy. Then it's pretty shoddy. While she may have had children with Solovyov 6 years ago and is being "kept" by him in an apartment, it doesn't mean she's his "partner." It doesn't even mean that they have relations except for his probably visiting those children etc.

However the reference is the Navalny article mentioned above. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svetlana_AbrosimovaSo more importantly than who the father is or who Svet's "partner" is, they were born in 2017. So UCONN should start looking at the twins around 2032 or so? They could enroll around 2035?

The Navalny org video is very recent and anyone can edit wikipedia pages but I give credence to this report. I'm sure Svetlana made a lot of money in Russian basketball but her apparent Sochi residence is hob knobbing with oligarchs as one of the most expensive locations around. She seems to be in the $10 million plus net worth range in terms of lifestyle. Apartments in New York and a multi million dollar beach home in Sochi. I suppose it's possible but I would think unlikely on her income. Also, you don't get to be the country's president of the basketball federation ( whatever the official title is ) without ruling party connections. She's effectively complicit with Putin's regime.

But the rest of what you say is a rush to judgment. Before the war, she acquired all this status and wealth. Then, oligarchs were just vulgar guys who bought estates in St John's Wood and sports teams. It's only now that they are anathematized.

Nobody does propaganda 'better' than the United States, but few realize it...... Russian Propaganda Joke: A Russian and an American get on a plane in Moscow and get to talking. The Russian says he works for the Kremlin and he's on his way to go learn American propaganda techniques. "What American propaganda techniques?" asks the American. "Exactly," the Russian replies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Putin does it much nastier, but ..... ....ours is more effective in the end.

OMG, I'm soooo tempted. On TOB, someone started a thread on Sveta about this. Tommy shut it down immediately. "Politics". I so much want to send him a private message and say "Tommy, you know if you would let people talk about stuff (Sveta), maybe Nancy wouldn't have to start 40,000 threads during the off-season to try and keep traffic up, so you guys can get paid."I like to push them guys to the edge, but that would probably fly right over it. Not sure I'm in the mood for a time-out right now.

We hear almost nothing about Sveta these days. This makes me ill. It made me sick too. I've been a huge fan of hers since her UConn days. But this...I've followed the war in Ukraine from the beginning & unfortunately have become very familiar with Vladimir Solovyov. He has been decorated twice by Putin for his propaganda, which is vile to say the least. There is enough video & audio evidence to charge and convict him of war crimes (incitement to war & incitement to genocide to name just 2). He's a typical bully, abuses his staff on air when things go wrong & generally comes across as an ***hole. If you're interested check @juliadavisnews on Twitter and her YouTube channel, Russia Media Monitor. Frankly the only thing attractive about him is that he is said to be worth at least $100 million, thanks to his connection to Putin. I don't claim to understand why else Sveta would be with him, which doesn't say anything good about her ethics. During the events of last weekend I thought of Sveta & her children several times. When Putin eventually falls (he won't live forever & a lot of the elite is displeased with the way he's handled both the war & the coup attempt) Solovyov will go down with him, he is too closely identified with the Putin regime although he did attempt to straddle the fence by making a commercial with Prighozin not long ago. Anyway if that coup had succeeded or when Putin is finally replaced Sveta & her children could find themselves in serious danger. A new regime might want to make an example of someone who benefited from the Putin connection at the expense of Russian citizens. Who better than the mistress of the former chief propagandist of the Putin regime???

Russian society has been corrupt FOREVER. They've had maybe about a year of good government in their entire history. Brothers killing their entire families for power. Catherine the great getting her husband the king locked up for life so she could rule. It's always been a disgusting political system and frankly, you almost have to be complicit with the system to get ahead in Russia. It's so hopeless that I can see why people just give up and make the best of their personal situations. And top athletes know the system as well as anyone. Svetlana was kept off the national team for a while and then it appears her party connections put her in charge of it ( something like that ). There but by the grace of God go all of us. I can't condone it still. I would emigrate ASAP.

Could this thread be moved to off-topic?
I am diametrically opposed to most of what I read here and I'm tempted to explain reality to those who have formed their opinions from the propaganda that masquerades as the US news media.
If I do you will move it so why not now? Out of my sight, out of my mind.

I focused in modern history with an emphasis on Russia and China in school along with another double major. I'm very confident in my analysis of this situation. Putin is a thug and the entire system is incredibly corrupt and none of that came from propaganda. In the past 2 years around 7-8 oil executives and regime critics have met mysterious deaths. Thrown out of 10 story buildings...etc. Being involved with the regime and their cronies is flat out immoral. No doubt that is one of the few ways to be "successful" in the Russian world though.

How to revive a fine old word like defenestration. You can call being involved with Putin and his family immoral, unethical and a lot of other things, at least from our point of view. From the viewpoint of someone "in" the situation, it is likely indeed a way to be successful and possibly just to survive. Apart from anything else, what moves Putin into the "evil" zone is really the poisonings and defenestration situations. I don't ask other countries to necessarily conform to our ideals of freedom, freedom of the press, etc. - but you really don't go murdering your opponents.
