If Geno said to you: "UConn fan, who do YOU want to start?", what five players would you tell Geno to put in the starting lineup?

I was watching some film from Caroline's freshman year yesterday, and, wow. I have to say that, were she entirely healthy and back in form, I'd want her on the court as much as possible. Alas, I didn't vote for her, because it's a complete unknown. OTOH, I voted for Ice even though she has no college record at all. I'm just weird that way....

Caroline looked like a 4 year starter during her freshman season.

I voted for Paige,Azzi, Caroline, Edwards, and Ice.
If Caroline was healthy that is who I WANT to start. On the other thread I gave the spot to Nika. Doubtful how healthy CD is.
And I'd WANT Ice to start becuase she would porvide a balance in size to a degree and have heard she has outside skills. I voted for Aubrey on the other thread because putting in Ice for me was more a "wishful want" just like it was for Caroline due to her health.

You don't need to reveal who you voted for. You can if you want, but no need.

I know we're only 8 votes in, but already we're looking at a "Dewey Beats Truman" headline. What happened to all that enthusiasm for Aubrey (and lack of confidence in Caroline)?
Way off topic (mostly), but did anyone see the latest episode of "Succession"? Wow!! Some of the purest TV entertainment I've seen in a long time, and speaking of polls....

My votes have to do with a dual understanding. I have starters, yeah, but I am thrilled with those players who come off the bench and change the whole character of the game. They have such an important role to play!! So starter schmarter...What I love is a group of cool starters AND a group of amazing-off-the benchers. And next year I think we will have BOTH. So just because I don't give a player a starting role in the poll doesn't mean I don't value that player incredibly. There are a couple super spark-plugs in next year's team, in my view and that energy is crucial.

PS I voted assuming full health in all players.

If Caroline is good enough to start next year… we are definitely winning the championship.

If Caroline is good enough to start next year… we are definitely winning the championship. I don't know about "definite," but I agree that a healthy and effective Caroline makes for an even more absolutely mind-blowing backcourt. Because of all her troubles this past year, sometimes it's hard to remember just how brilliant she was as a freshman.

I chose : Paige, Azzi, Jana, Aaliyah, and Aubrey as my five. I honestly believe Caroline will challenge Aubrey for that spot. I like her strong will and toughness. Way too much potential . I will go out on a limb and say I expect Caroline to make the biggest jump this season.

I will go out on a limb and say I expect Caroline to make the biggest jump this season. A healthy Caroline is a far better ball handler and a way better outside shot. Aubrey has astonishing quickness and better defender. Aubrey is probably more impactful (sorry, but it's becoming a word) coming off the bench: she changes the tempo immediately. So, yes, a healthy Caroline and a healthy Aubrey probably makes sense with Caroline starting and Aubrey coming off the bench, both playing around the same # of minutes.

Every poll will get a different result if it is worded differently. As an example, I think Ice is probably more college ready next year but I'm picking Jana for her potential and athleticism. Jana is a tad taller and I think Jana might have an athleticism and quickness edge and maybe has more potential long term. I want rebounding more than anything from Jana. Jana has had a year to actually practice with the team instead of observe the team from the sidelines like Ice, which I would think would be huge. This poll is who we want rather than who we expect or even who we might think are better short term options. I think Jana is a potential star on this team over the next 4 years. She's our big signing from last year. I want to see her develop. It's an important priority for me. If Ayanna has emerged then fine I'd love to see that happen but I don't see her as that close to making a very significant transition to the college game at this level. I read that no one works harder than Ayanna so I'm not giving up on her. If I had to bet on anyone right now though it would be Jana.
I'm also fan of having a player who can come off the bench and help on offense. Caroline, if healthy, may well deserve to start but she could really be a boost off the bench for a tired offense. Ergo she's my 6th person on the depth chart.
I like Aubrey setting the tone defensively as my stopper and as a player who helps the team fast break. I think starting also helps her confidence and frankly I believe in rewarding some kids just from their effort and persistence. Aubrey actually could be a WNBA player and those players are important to cultivate.
Azzi is the total basketball player who can play both offense and defense and doesn't make many turnovers. She, Paige and Aaliyah are a given for obvious reasons.

Wouldn't it be great if Qadence stepped on the court and just knocked it out of the park next year, as a total shock to all of us? Or someone else? We really have no idea of the true situation on this team. Lots of new players.

We really have no idea of the true situation on this team. Lots of new players. And all kinds of possible combinations none of us have thought of yet. Despite our debate here over who should start, who will start, Geno and the coaches will make their decisions by November - and then we can start criticizing them for how they are coaching and who they are playing/not playing. I have a feeling next season is going to be full of surprises. Good ones!

I would find at least ten minutes non garbage time for KK Arnold in every game. And I don’t care how she is playing. I would put her out there.

I just want The Kid, Fudd and Edwards to be AA's, The Kid can win the NPOY, and we go undefeated with the NC. Just a normal, run of the mill UCONN year without surprises.

We really have no idea of the true situation on this team. Lots of new players. I expect that her learning curve would have to be steep to see minutes in a 9 or 10 player rotation. She has a 3 pt shot, has length and most importantly she loves defending. If her defense translates into D1 and her 3pt shot is real she would likely see game minutes. KLS had a great freshman year just sitting in the corner and nailing 3's. I could see all three of the new guards being used defensively to pick up offensive players as the ball comes into frontcourt, trapping, forcing an uptempo pace and doing a good imitation of Muhl as a freshman. As it stands, Geno has energy to burn in the backcourt the opposite of the last two seasons.

Wed 5-17 9pm
For all the adamant disagreement
Fudd 15 Edwards 15 Bueckers 15 . . . . . . . . Muhl 7 Ducharme 7 Brady 7 Griffin 6
. the rest
The contention is actually a good thing to read about, since it means there are 2 openings as a starter and four legitimate candidates. A 2023 Lieberman finalist is not a lock to start?
Who are those guys?

Need another biggish to rotate against the teams with bigs. That 8 should get the time the minutes as the season gets serious.

As confused as she looked last season she has a unique combination of size, speed, quickness and elevation. I saw little of that last season. I've wondered if she was limited. She didn't get into the dunking contest last season due to an injury according to Geno at the time. But like you pointed out, she has several to beat out.

I think it will be really disappointing for us and especially for Ayanna if she is not in the rotation this season.
