Willis Reed passed on the other day. In 1970 I was a freshman in HS . Myself and new friends would get together every morning before class and discuss the " Daily News " sport page. At the time I had been to many local BB games w/ dad and friends and enjoyed the afternoon weekend games of the week. NYK were not on tv much where I lived in CT. so I'd hunker down in my room to study, but really was tuned into the radio to listen every night to the games. I will never forget waiting for the NBS Championship and their date w/ Lakers. I still remember sitting cross legged on the floor and having goose bumps when Willis hobbled onto the floor. He only played 27 minutes on his damaged knee, but it was enough to ignite the NYK win. Clyde Frazier became my favorite player of all time w/ 36 pts. , 19 assists. From that night on, I could never really get enough basket ball to watch. Thank you Willis Reed !

Huge discussion on PTI, Tony Kornheiser was at the game (as a paying customer) when Reed limped on the floor. One of the top 5 games he has ever attended.

Use to love the Sunday afternoon games on ABC, I think. Especially Knicks/Bullets matchups w/ Frazier / Earl Monroe. They just went back and forth. So, when " The Pearl" joined the NYK , I was ecstatic !
