Nice to see Sue and Jen in the house! Napheesa, too. Also think I saw Quadence Samuels. Not sure how to spell that, yet Quadence Samuels was there.

I really liked that Nika didn't settle for outside shots. She took advantage of openings to drive to the hoop several times and score - something I don't think SC was prepared for.

My takeaway is that we aren’t far off.

This game was winnable, but we need to box out better, rebound and we had too many turnovers. A close game such as this can be lost or won because of turnovers. South Carolina was able to take 13 more shots than UConn, primarily because they rebounded more and had less turnovers. On offense, we need to have more movement and cutting and less stopping our dribble before we know where we're going with the pass. When you pull up your dribble without a concrete passing plan, you make it easier for a good defensive team to tie you up. I loved Geno's T, but the announcers were clueless as to why he complained? I think - from my distant tv view - Geno was disgusted with how the SC players were holding and bumping Lou. Dorka needs to score a bit more? She played hard, but we need some offense from her. Wasn't it fabulous the way FOX rushed it over to God damn bowling after the game? LLS was wearing defenders like a backpack all game and only one or two got called. Over and over she was on the floor. Shirt-grabbing was rare, but hanging on or shoving her into the UCONN player setting the screen were constant. Hand checks were allowed today, even with two hands. She and Nika were Hipchecked by various screeners at the other end, too. Not sure how much of that was in the cameras line of sight. It made the whistles on touch fouls ridiculous.

Marquette is a really dangerous trap game after this one.

I will say, if SC had decent outside shooting, they'd be scary. UConn basically dared 'em, the whole game, to take longer shots. Yes. And the game was won when Boston hit a couple and Johnson hit three threes late. I looked at the person behind me and wondered if she had hit three consecutive threes all season.

I don’t think it is so obvious that you just plug Caroline and Azzi in and have a different result. UConn shot 52% from the field. How much better do you want them to shoot? South Carolina won because they had 13 more shot attempts. We lost because of rebounding. If Dorka has a better game, UConn wins. It is that simple for me. And I am not blaming her that much. Everyone has bad games. I am just saying when you play 5 players against the #1 team in the country; there is no margin of error. Needed better from her. Didn’t get it today. Have to disagree vehemently. Dorka played extremely well. Stayed out of foul trouble, defended Cardozo et al. Not as much scoring, maybe, but we put up enough points to win. We just couldn't get enough stops. They were covering her from deep. She isn't fast enough to drive all the way to the rim before help collapsed. They didn't call the fouls when she was shoved on the shot, either.

You make a good point about Azzi and Caroline not necessarily leading to a different outcome. For every change that is made, there are other impacts that may be for the better or may be for the worse. The offense needs to operate differently, as does the defense. Still, both Caroline and Azzi are good outside shooters, and also can take it to the rim, or drive into the lane and kick it out. I think it is more likely than not that the outcome would be impacted by their addition. +1. If for no other reason that they'd have had to guard her and give Lou more space.

Didn’t get it today. UConn made 2 3's. 2-6 for the game. UConn usually takes 1/3 of their shots from behind the arc. Plus, getting Fudd back would let Senechal take only good shots. When they were both on the floor Senechal was shooting 60-50-90. The way to counter 2nd chance pts is with 3 pt shooting.

Marquette is a really dangerous trap game after this one. I am thinking the same thing. They can smell it all the way to Milwaukee, this is their chance.

Anyone who doubts this coach or staff needs to check into rehab, you need help. Ohio State and ND lose a player or two and the wheels come completely off, and of the ones they lost none could carry the shoes of any of the 3 we lost.

Easy to imagine a scenario where the ladies aren’t as up for this game. Additionally, Marquette needs to win. I think they are going to the NIT if they don’t beat UConn. Their resume needs it.

I predict smooth sailing against Marquette and every other team. They've proven their mettle. Next tough one will be in the Elite Eight.

SCar would not then have limited us to (6) 3 pt attempts although their D was incredible. Other limiting factors were fouls on a Edwards and Senechal, Geno’s T equaling 4 points swing and those additional 13 shots by SCar.

Do you think Azzi will come back this year? I guess we just don't know.

I like our chances in a rematch. Whether or not we get Caroline and/or Azzi back this year. I think in a rematch, we win, by double digits, too.
That's just my opinion.

Do you think Azzi will come back this year? I guess we just don't know. I guarantee it!! I saw a Geno video with him saying that she has increased her range and she is getting her shots off even quicker. Right now, as things stand, Fudd isn't needed until the S16. Any time before that would also be OK with me.

Do you think Azzi will come back this year? I guess we just don't know. We don't. Neither does Geno. But we know that he will know before we do, so we want the hoard to keep asking just in case there is new news
