I am eager for Jon and Nathan to be released from their current duties to go and frolic elsewhere and all that that implies!

I want to know when she's resuming bb activities since Geno has already told us that there is no need for surgery of any kind. 2 weeks on crutches as of Monday.

I'm guessing mid-March, if at all this season. She's had too many knee and leg problems to risk her career with a hasty return.

Guess I'm surprised they haven't just shut her down for the season. There's obviously something going on with her knee.

I don't understand why there wasn't a brace on it.

I don't understand why there wasn't a brace on it. Welcome to the board and you ask a good question. But I would think the answer is the doctors thought she didn't need it.

The two weeks on crutches is almost up and hoping for a good test result.

But when a player ends up on crutches twice in a couple of months, I think erring on the side of being super cautious might be the wisest course.

Do you honestly worry that UConn would push an injured player back on the court? I want and hope that Fudd is back on the court quickly, like next week. Or even mid-February. And I am confident that if she is back soon the program will have followed the advise of her highly competent medical experts.

I was putting myself in the mindset of the medical professionals who might decide that her knee has suffered significant trauma (the last injury seemed so minor at the time, and yet....). So, no, of course, I don't think Uconn would push her back. I was suggesting the very opposite of that.

Are you saying that even if the medical staff says she is free of injury and clear her for full activity then UConn should still sit her until when ? June? Sept? Next November? I'll worry of her re-injurying herself if it's 2 years from now. That's no reason to sit her.

I didn't say anything about the team, the medical staff, etc. You read all that into it. I also said that I knew nothing, and used "err" and "might." I was only expressing a fear that the various parties (team, medical staff, Azzi) might (might!) feel about risking a return this year. Let's move on, okay? since you seem to make more of the comment than I intended.

I don’t know whether Azzi will be back or not. I hope so. The visuals of crutches make me think it will be a while. I don’t even remember seeing crutches when she suffered the injury initially.

I can't help but wonder if they were wrong. On a related note, is anyone else losing some level of confidence in the medical community? Doctors have always been human and made mistakes. I just feel like I hear an increasing number of baffling stories within my personal sphere of family and friends. The technology has never been better. Equipment and treatments are amazing today compared to 20 or 30 years ago. But the doctors? I don't know...

Well, the whole covid era definitely chipped away at doctor confidence with the general public.

The two weeks on crutches is almost up and hoping for a good test result. The two week rest for the knee may just be part of the plan from preseason. Back in the Summer Geno said they were limiting her activity over the summer and would do that during the season to insure her health in March. I'm not going to spec on why she is taking weight off but it may simply be an ultra-conservative action since there is no reported injury.

you know, I'm okay with Azzi taking the rest of the season off. knees are weird joints, and prone to injury especially in women. the team is playing so damn beautifully great right now, why not give AmazingAzzi the chance to really heal up and get her body right? I know she wants to play, we want her to play, but stillllllll... it's a game, she's a kid, I am an over-protective wanna-be momma.

What the kids want, and what the doctors want, and what we want might not be the same. But instinctively, I agree. I'd be delighted if Azzi and Caroline can play this year. Given how the team's played without them, they'd be fabulous with them. But I guess, like you, if I were their parent, I'd like them to take the rest of the season off. They've both suffered recurring injuries. That's a signal from their bodies, I think.
