Now, the question is; will Stewie also join her in NY? It seems to have been super quiet of late concerning Stewie. She may not have made up her mind yet and she's now playing in Turkey where she makes 4 or 5X what she makes in the WNBA. But the other thing is that she is not under contract anymore, but Jonquel Jones was. So the Liberty essentially completed the difficult task in trading for Jonquel and now Stewie needs to see if she wants to play in NY? I would because she's closer to home and playing with Jonquel will be great for her. They would immediately become favorites to win a title. With Sue Bird retired, Seattle isn't as attractive anymore.

I also neglected to mention the NY Metropolitan area press and the strong Liberty ownership family as being very favorable to a talent such as Stewie who would likely have many more marketing deals available to her. I hope she does it even though I'm a Seattle Storm fan. She might even do it for less than Max salary, knowing about the many other lucrative opportunities she'll have?

Anyone else feel like CT got the worst of that first trade and traded known quality for hopefuls on the second deal? Those are the things that get GMs and coaches fired unless the kids turn out to be great.
Makes me wonder if JJ asked for (insisted on?) a trade, or if there's another shoe to drop.
The Sun have been in the hunt for a ring the last few years, and just traded away a young MVP under contract. Anyone think they're better off this year? As good?
Said another way, there are a handful of players who are worth more than the super max the W allows. These are always a bargain at any price. Stewie, A'sa, Jonquel, Pheesa, ... maybe a couple more.
Don't kill me over a wave of players who are late enough in their careers and or have injury history to not be slam dunk inclusions to the list, such as D, Sue, Candice, EDD, Skylar, Nneka, Tina.

ESPN mentions that the Liberty have plenty of CAP Space to sign Stewart for a nice WNBA salary as well: www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/35463933/wnba-trade-takeaways-jonquel-jones-breanna-stewart-free-agencyStewie and Jonquel playing together would be amazing both offensively and defensively, and they have played together in the past for a Russian Euroleague team, where they won titles. Their length, quickness, defensive prowess, ability to hit 3's, ability to handle the ball and so much more; put both in a league by themselves! I understand A'ja Wilson won the WNBA MVP Award last season, but she was the best person on the best team. Stewie was clearly the best player overall, but she lacked the overall team support Wilson had. A'ja is a great player, no disrespect to her; but she's not Stewie.

I guess they thought this was the best they could do to get some return. Will be interesting to see if that return is "worth the price"

That pair plus Sabrina would certainly make for a formidable start.
