Can anybody give me advice on posting Youtube clips, or similar videos? On TOB, when I link 'em, the title and picture pop up, so folks know what direction my mischief is heading. Here, I just get the url link. Other folks seem to be able to get a picture or video to display, so, I suspect the "weak link" is my ignorance. Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried using the insert video icon on your toolbar or do you just post the link?

Help!!! Over the least few weeks this and several other sites, including one other ProBoards site have gotten very slow for me and it is to the point now that it is obvious my participation in Game Threads will be impossible. I happened to be listening to some tech guru show on the radio in my truck yesterday and he confirmed a suspicion of mine: One of the prime suspects for degraded performance like this is the content of the GoogleAdServices package which is loading more and more into its banner ads, etc.
If I had 40 Gig download speed, no problem. But one price for living where I do is I pay a fortune for 1.5 Megs on its very best day.
If I can figure out it I have a built in ad blocker or get an AD Blocker program installed am I going to be barred from the site participation as some sites do?

Rocky, what browser do you typically use? Internet Explorer. While I have foolishly installed the new Microsoft product, I have retreated to IE because of problems, including security, with that thing.

You might try using Chrome or Firefox. I have an ad blocker on Chrome and have no performance issues.

try microsoft edge [the best sofar] "the best sofar"? For a small pipe/ad blocker issue?? Really???!!! How does it gain me an advantage if it is an issue of Goggle Lead Service clogging my small pipe (no prostate jokes, etc. please!). Does it do different 1 in 16 bits type compression or 1-31 or 1-64!! Like not to lose this site to the fact I live in the boonies. This message was composed on Edge BTW... still to slow.

I use Chrome with an ad blocker installed. Not sure what to tell you beyond that. I am pseudo techy.

Yeah, the ads are ridiculous and annoying and make performance so, so, slow.
Odd, that on other sites that generate ad revenue from clicks this is not a consideration. And it is very obvious that anything you do on the web is not private. If you shop online, even if you just visit a page online, you are slammed with ads from whence you visited.
I just replenished my shampoo, purchasing it online and the salon doesn't have any (and wasn't interested in ordering it for me) AND I am almost out. As a result of my surly desperate act, now all of my web pages are peppered with that brand's product line. So, so annoying.

I know. Be careful what you look at online lest someone peeks over your shoulder and sees the full right side consumed with ads for Depends or Viagara.
This site still let's you read and post with an ad block enabled. At least through the straight url on a laptop or desktop. Tapatalk will give you ads. I just got a new laptop with Windows 10. When I went to TOB (for the football board), it wouldn't let me in until I turned off ad block. I guess I forgot I had done that on my old laptop.

Victoria Secret Pink ad came up when I just logged in, so it ain't all bad! No, it is all bad - as bad as "free TV". I'd do subscription in a heart beat IF there were no Ads, but that was the original selling point of cable and satellite TV - how is that working out for us, huh! Not to mention the paltry "original content" of the "premium channels", which was the second sell job on No Commercials, etc. Now we get a sell job from Netflix, Google etc.
Pardon the rant.

Thanks for the heads up regarding this site not freezing you out if you ad block. Only way I can continue here without getting high blood pressure.

I continue to have major performance issues with this site and the sister/brother site. This morning I'm flying along just fine. Last two days keying in a sentence has been a blood pressure buster. Tinkering, trying to figure out what is going on.

This one and another ProBoards site College Fans Only the worst and most consistently the worst. During high internet data streaming hours by the big boys in banking, etc. I can have some speed issues, but nothing like what is happening now, intermittently on these 2 sites.

Then, in all likelihood,it probably is an ad service. As UConnChapette does, I use chrome with an ad blocker and haven't had any problems.

I converted to Chrome and Adblocker yesterday evening and I'm flying now! Yes. I can meaningfully participate in game threads. Well, participate in real time, the meaningfully thing is for others to judge.
