As I recall, one of my sister's dogs had a toad-licking "problem". This likely contributed to at least one seizure, but the pup didn't give it up until she had a really bad "trip" on her last toad.

We have Sonoran River Toads here in Tucson, they come out in some of the Monsoon storms. Unattractive and bad for dogs, I don't think there is any human connection. I had to chase one out of the backyard a few years back. Saw one in the driveway this year. But they are not around much.

But they are not around much. yeah, the pup in question lived south of Maricopa, with my older daughter/ursusminor's older sister. The pup was a wolf-hybrid, sweet in nature - but, still, easily 80 pounds, and she had a craving for those toads. My older daughter's a vet tech, and quite knowledgeable on the topic of toads - and, she vigorously would check the pack compound,, but the stoner pup still managed to find the occasional toad.
