www.worldexposurereport.com/news_article/show/1240899This is an old quotation, but what jumped out at me this time was the 2nd part: places she can get to. Sounds like someone who can play anywhere from 3 points to post-up to wing on the break. “Ayanna Patterson has incredible athletic ability and the places she can get to on the court,” UConn head coach Geno Auriemma said. “Offensively and defensively, I think she’s going to have a huge impact right away because of those two things.”

I am excited about Patterson. Without Patterson, I would have worried a bit about the athleticism of the team. (It is hard to be as athletic with Williams and Westbrook departing.) So, I think immediately Patterson brings something unique to the team. Something the team needs.
I think Bettencourt should be on the list. Because I think she will definitely play. Nika and Azzi are likely the first two options at point guard. I hope this doesn’t happen again. But they were both in street clothes against Louisville last year. Maybe Geno will just prefer Azzi at the 2 no matter what? Then Bettencourt is the backup point guard. So, I mean I definitely think she will play.

This coach Auriemma must be UConn's equivalent to that "coach Jumper" character on the Vol board. She hasn't played one college game and he has her in the HOF already. These message board experts need to temper their enthusiasm a lot.

Bettencourt could easily be thought of as a "project", needing a year or 2 to raise her level of skill and strength. But then why would Geno sign her? UConn has 2 highly skilled and highly rated guards coming in next year so they won't need her then? The only reason has to be that he thinks she could contribute at some point this season. If she can at least play against the bottom half of UConn's opponents it could keep Fudd minutes at PG down to a minimum. IMO Fudd may well be the best player in college. And if that sounds crazy and presumptuous just remember that when she was a HS sophomore she was named the HSNPOY, when most of the current college players were also in HS.

If I was watching the practices, I would watch Brady and DeBerry. My assumption is that those two are competing for minutes. And I think it would be fascinating to watch them battle in practice.

Juhasz, Edwards, DeBerry, Brady, Patterson. There's no Stewart or Charles or Dolson right now but four of the above haven't played a minute as upperclassmen yet. Find a UConn roster with 5 front line players as talented* as this season's group. There are several players who played at a higher level but I can't think of a roster with this much talent*. * The underlining is just in case Coco reads this.

Let's be clear about something: WER is often thought of as a Husky fanboy. And honestly, I think Janiah Barker is other-worldly. And where is the other other-worldly player, Kiki Rice? Not one of the top 5 players, really? I frankly think she's #1 in her class and hors categorie. And why is Ice Brady listed as 6'1"? Does WER have something against semper?

Why are we NON-POWER 5? What is that s---? UConn is the perfect triad of power: Athleticism, teamwork and magnificently functioning brains. Whilst the SEC neanderthals are trying to understand their NIL statements and the finer fundamentals of basket weaving; UConn WCBB will be correcting Neil deGrasse-Tyson's near perfect theory of Mulkey Way inter portal turbulence ......... Neil neglected to factor in the terrapin counter spin from Brender's hogging the portal. Our women are simply brilliant as they translate Caesar and run sprints........ .......amazing! BTW.....don't be surprised if Ines is defending her PhD thesis next year....

As for Brady's height, I saw Fudd listed in the WER 2021 class as 5'8", but when I clicked on her name and saw her profile he was listed as 5'10". So I think those heights on the list were put there long before some of the players had their final growth spurt. As for WEP's allegiances, most of these services charge money to analyze players. Brady was No. 2 on ESPN as a HS sophomore and slid some after she verballed to UConn. Is it because others became better or was it because she was no longer a recruit? How many players do these 1-4 man operations continue to re-evaluate after they commit early? Not many I'd guess.

Griffin = Athleticism and yes, she is pretty much ready to go.
