Look at the men's rankings and explain how Harvard is a top women's school but not a top men's school? Neither offers scholarships and neither is a basketball destination school. The academic side has to be the same for men and women so what is it about Ivy League basketball that makes the Ivy League great for females but not males? I'll wager it's the average salary earned by grads. Male hoops players from Ivy schools that make the NBA is a short list.

What were they smoking? This is nonsensical. Do you get it? When I see Maryland ranked ahead of UConn, Notre Dame, MIT, Penn, Brown, Cornell, Johns Hopkins and the University of Chicago; I realize their metrics are shady?

They can't be ranking WCBB by ANY metric to put things as they did. And they aren't ranking academic either, clear. So WTF?

What would we include in the criteria? Quality of coaching Consistency over time Committment to the women's program Success and prestige Fan support Media access Preparation for future Academic support Easing burdens of Travel Facilities Campus life NIL opportunities ... Please add others, but in nearly every category here, we're in the top category Areas mentioned as possible points against... Climate Size of student body Access to big city Racial, orientation balance within campus community

Drop this organization from your drop in on list. Rank stupidity should have consequences.

I think it's a pretty perfect size. One thing that does count against UConn is prestige of athletic conference. Not only is the basketball team in a so-so conference, but the football team is in really bad shape that way. When recruits come to campus, they often judge college spirit by what they see on the gridiron. Geno does his best by having an amazingly tough OOC schedule, plus doing exotic tournaments. Of course, you could put together your plus and minus list and appreciate that Stanford checks every single box, except maybe fan support.

Both completely politicized and Florida just a year after their WCBB head coach was fired for a number of allegations? Thank God the season starts soon and all of this pre-season babble will be relegated to Lady Vol Nation; land of the unending lunacy? BTW.....they must have rated Maryland for their crab cakes? Nothing else could bump them up so high.

Not sure how it fits, but I have heard of recruits who want a giant school. 2. Agree about conference, but BE > AAC by a lot 3. Stanford does check a lot of boxes, for sure. I was just thinking about the criteria that would be most important to me ... if I were a teenager ... and a girl ... and played basketball well enough to garner scholarship offers in quantities such that the decision was difficult.

Of course, if we drill down to the specific student--rather than globally rank the desirability of a program--then a key factor is playing time: who's ahead of me at my position? That's an entirely fungible consideration: it changes yearly, and different kids have different levels of confidence about their ability to displace their competition.

That explains why Maryland is ranked so highly. They loaded up with talent from the portal and new student-athlete 'X' is 2nd or 3rd string, but - bingo - those ahead of her get fed up and transfer out; so now she's starting?
