Background: For some years, UConn fans lamented the absence of a "plus/minus" stat in basketball. A traditional hockey stat, the plus/minus is supposed to help quantify the "intangibles" that a player brings to their team by simply tracking how well the team does when that player is on the floor. Surely, we thought, this stat would illustrate the value of players like Kelly Faris, who were great for the team despite never filling up the stat sheet with many points or rebounds.
Well, sometime in the last few years, the plus/minus stat was added to the official box score. Yay!
The question: Outside of Mir McClean, who is a statistical outlier, who currently has the team-best plus/minus scaled to 40 minutes of playing time?
For reference, the team-best with significant playing time last season was Anna Makurat at 37.7 plus-per-40, although she was out with injury during some of the tougher games. Paige Buecker's plus-per-40 last season was 30.5.
