No word on NCAA adoption, yet.

Although we can hope for a slight change in referring calling, the fact is that refereeing basketball or football is incredibly challenging (I speak from dismal personal experience). The action requires a snap decision by the referee who may or may not be in the best position to view that action. Everyone talks about wanting at least consistency and/or equity in the calls. But who amongst us is otherwise consistent or equitable in all their decisions?

The adjustment specifically addresses fouls over which the defender had no control. That accounts for a lot of calls on a drive to the hoop. Rewatch last season Ark and Baylor games. Many out of control drives into a standing defender were called. Sitting important players, changing sub patterns, and leaving the defenders with no options.

Arike Ogunbowale is the poster child for initiating contact while driving to the basket!! Boom foul whistled and the defender really wasn't at fault??

I always thought that MM did a much better job than Geno of teaching fouling techniques, how to draw fouls, commiting smart fouls and avoiding stupid fouls.
